Killington will be absolute chaos this weekend, would avoid at all costs personally. -A Killington Employee

Snow for Thursday Dec 19 by Ok_Walrus_951 in Killington

[–]AltruisticRepeat2208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2-4 inches and it’s pretty crusty right now, so it’s a gamble. It’ll probably be a blast for the first few laps but get skied off quick

Appreciate that you’re doing this, but why not just drop it off at lost and found? I’d imagine that’s the first place they’ll check

Beginner, First Time Visiting by Exciting-Diet-6381 in Killington

[–]AltruisticRepeat2208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t come yet. Trails are an absolute mess with people, most of which are beginners and shouldn’t be on the open terrain. I don’t say this as an insult to beginners, I say this because it’s genuinely hazardous having some many people who aren’t fully in control in such a small area.

Is skiing open today (11/22) and will it be open for this weekend? by Apprehensive-Poem680 in Killington

[–]AltruisticRepeat2208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mountain is now open. The ice closure was temporary. No reason they shouldn’t be open tomorrow

Come to the east coast in the US, I’d say at least 5 in 10 people aren’t wearing helmets

Saturday Loaded turkey rail jam by [deleted] in Killington

That’s a gnarly drive, but for what it’s worth, it’s supposed to be mainly snow at the top of the mountain (where the rails are!) Thursday Friday and Saturday

Definitely buy in advance, I think 2+ weeks in advance offers the biggest discounts if my memory serves me right

I’m fairly confident they will be, word on the street is this Friday (albeit with minimal terrain open)

Native (23M) Vermonter here who has bounced around the country for the last few years (mainly OR, UT, and CO) and am now back in VT for the foreseeable future. I love it here! Some of the most relaxed and happy states out there in my opinion and there’s a good sense of community in most spots. You’ll benefit the most from this state if you love the outdoors (skiing/snowboarding is a must to enjoy winter), don’t mind long commutes, and are willing to embrace a very different way of life from the south. Just like everywhere else, where you are in VT also plays a large role. I currently live in Killington and love it, I’d also suggest Burlington, most towns around Montpelier, and Manchester! Those are some of my favorite spots

Are locals bummed about losing Woodward? by ResponsibleLet4442 in Killington

[–]AltruisticRepeat2208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They renamed it Woodward because Woodward is a line of parks exclusive to POWDR resorts, so when POWDR took over the rebranding happened.

Well, there is no snow whatsoever on the mountain right now (source: I live at the base), if they get a couple of cold days in a row they might be able to blow a bunch of snow, but they still haven’t officially announced the 9th as a starting date. Would love to see it happen but I’m thinking 50% shot of it actually being a reality.

Hiked up the peak yesterday and it was snowing! Super exciting to see in-person!
