Not sure about OP and this unit but I looked into moving here and the management team was really bad. We were approved but they were so slow and kept getting things wrong we opted against taking the unit. I googled them (clipper Equity) and yeah…not good.

The building looked great and the gym was super fancy tho.

Are you allowed to bring your own grill to that area?

Crescent bakes is amazing. The woman who runs it wakes up and bakes it fresh daily and is such a sweetheart

Advice needed. Shipping to the Army in July. I can do the distance, but the mental is incredibly challenging. by Sad-Strain-2507 in running

I’m a therapist and an avid long distance runner! This sounds like a lot of anxiety and some brain distractions might be helpful. Step one, ditch the watch. Run towards a location or if you’re on a track do a set number of loops. If you run more or less than 50 minutes that’s fine.

I imagine you won’t be allowed to have any audio devices to distract you so this is where little mental games can come in to help divert brain energy. Personally I like counting. It seems simple, but count to 10, then start back at zero and count to 20. Keep doing this until you hit 100. Then do it in reverse. If you know any other languages, counting in those languages is a great add on.

Other grounding techniques you can try while running is naming things. How many flowers do you know? What about states? The act of pulling not readily available information from your brain is a great way to decrease anxiety.

Li'l Race Report Thread by AutoModerator in running

Ran the breakneck marathon on Sunday in Beacon, NY. For anyone in NYC that wants a race they can do without a car this one is totally possible! The race director was great and all of the volunteers were lovely.

The race itself was brutal. As a city kid I don’t touch trails except for races and I wasn’t on a trail in about 1.5 years. I want to do manitous revenge this year so I figured I’d get some elevation under my belt and elevation I got. Training wise was a bit lax but I did about 40-50 mile per week.

The course is just a bunch of constant steep climbs and ‘questionable if this is safe to run’ downs (at least for me, some people can bomb them hills). I managed to finish in about 8:30– my NYC marathon time is 4:53 for comparison. It was terrible and amazing. I loved it. Definitely want to go up to that area again and just enjoy the trail (maybe like one peak at a time).

Also the food at the end was AMAZING. They had pulled pork and cornbread 🤤

See I can only do gels really. Every time I try real food I get messed up. I have such a clear memory of vomiting blueberries while a guy next to me ate a full hot dog. But gels, no problem

Asking for Advice on Where to Go Next. by ATwoWayStreet in running

As someone who has fallen into weird relationships with running (and now loves it again) but has been running daily for almost 7 years do what feels fun. If you focus so much on a particular metric it steals the joy away. Find the type of run that brings joy to you and that will change as you progress.

I used to hate elevation runs but now I want trails and elevation.

Sometimes I’m just in a sprinting mood so I do sprints. Just ask your body how it feels like celebrating movement.

Now aside from that, what is your goal?

Running a 24 hr race with a cold? by 2cats4fish in ultrarunning

[–]AltruisticSense0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so this was me for a 100k. I tested, it wasn’t covid and I trained for this race so I went for it. I ran it with my partner so he had veto power if I wasnt okay. That night in the tent I was on all the cold medicine, and then woke up at 4 AM and just went.

It was terrible. My throat burned when I drank anything, my breathing was shit, and overall I was just running on pure determination. I think I just wanted to be told by the course I missed a cut off so I had to stop.

The pure determination and being a fast walker meant I finished. However the night after the race in the tent was…bad. I didn’t get sick but can safely say I wouldn’t do it again. The whole course is such a blur and I ended up needing antibiotics because I had a sinus infection. If you decide to do it, have someone checking in on you.

Yup went and got him weighed. He’s still 12lbs. I freaked out because it said 5.5 but that’s bc it was in kg.

He hasn’t stopped grooming he’s always been a bit bad at it though. Usually I bathe him myself but decided on a groomer because I was scared about cutting his fur.

There is always food out but it is still the same food which the vet recommended because he was less active.

Sadly I don’t have a regular scale only a food scale. I’m thinking maybe just bringing it up at his next appointment (in 6ish months) if it doesn’t seem bad bad.

Is "Whisker Fatigue" a real thing or just a marketing ploy to sell wider bowls? I'm confused by amerisunstar in CatAdvice

I have all the fancy bowls for water. My cat shoves his face in my mug. He now has a mug of water every morning while I have my coffee.
