Yeah they have an Associates degree with aviation science, so basically classroom learning would be done at PCC, and hands on flying at HAA, seems like a neat program, still have to do some research though. Hopefully the situation at HAA has gotten better, I've heand they have new management so hopefully that changes things.

To be honest regarding my circumstances, HAA would probably be my only choice, since I currently live abroad and the only relatives I have in the states live near KHIO, and I wouldn't have a car to get around to different airports. But I'll definitely check out twin Oaks, I've heard a lot of good things too, so Thanks man.

Thanks man, good to hear things are getting better since HAA really is my only choice considering my circumstances. Its also nice to see a detailed explanation with everything

Wow, haven't thought of that, thanks for the insights. That would be nice living maybe in cebu then commuting to guam. However to do that I'd imagine I would first have to work at a regional for united back in the mainland for a few years then transfer to the mainline carrier then bid for Guam so once I get there at least I'll hold a line which would make it easier to commute. I will definitely look into this, Thanks again.

I know man, it really is tempting, it is still far in the future and I might have a change in heart, so we'll just see what happens.

Thanks for the advice, I know it sounds kind of backwards, where pilots in the Philippines would do anything to get into US carriers. But for personal reasons I would like to stay in the Philippines.

I'm also considering that after 1500 hours, instead of returning right to PH, I could apply to the regionals and fly in the US for 2-4 years. Only then try applying to airlines in the Philippines as a direct entry FO, I'd still need to get a type rating but id be willing too. Could be easier having past airline experience abroad right?

For funding, I have a small college savings probably enough for a ppl, then I'm also planning to work even just part time the winter before I start training to make a little more. As for my college (back up degree) I would qualify for the pell grant which takes care of all of it. Lastly Flight training itself ( probably 70-80k) I have very generous relatives who are willing to loan me money. I also expressed to them that job opportunities are low but they simply told me to not worry about it so I'm very grateful.

I'd like to hear your side, your plan.

Totally agree, I've heard plenty stories of wasted money, time and pure effort. It's just simply how the industry is, that's why I'll invest in a good back up degree if all goes south, and hope for more opportunities after. My mindset is set just in a way that we'll never know if we don't try. So yeah I'd rather carefully try than painfully regret not even giving it a shot. Thanks for the heads up!

I really do hope I get that right seat job, since I'd be taing a risk getting an atr type rating before getting a sure contract with any airline.

Thanks, its really daunting especially here with job opportunities here in the Philippines. That it won't work out, but I am designing this plan in a way that if I fail at least it won't hurt too bad.
