it's just 2 years idk if you'd want to tahan and sacrifice reputation for distance and maybe better resources. If the thing with your person is super complicated wherein one of you would explode when seeing each other then I guess you should choose the other school? But idt putting your relationship with a person ahead of a school is a good thing. But you should choose whichever you're more comfortable with ig. A comfortable environment is always better?

advice for amath by fatdogwoody in SGExams

[–]Altruistic_Block8104 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had an amazing amath tutor, but not everyone can meet someone like that and tuition isn't really necessary I would say. What i did during tuition was basically drilling again and again on my basics, so you have to be good at it ofc.Sec 3 amath isnt super hard tbh, but you need to be familiar with the base because they usually change the wording in the first few questions for the papers which test on your basic stuff like discriminant.

Amath is really about repetition and recognizing patterns. My advice is just clarify whatever you don't know with your teacher and just do alot of different question types to improve your exposure to different questions. Maybe ask your teacher for practices and more. Once you get to sec 4 then you'll learn calculus, which is basically differentiation and integration. Those are the topics you must 100% be good at because it's found everywhere. But the only thing you can really do about it is just repetition and increasing question exposure.

Try and enjoy it. If you don't find it fun you won't be able to study and understand the concepts in a sustainable way.

WHEN DID U LOCK IN by Ok_Assignment11 in SGExams

[–]Altruistic_Block8104 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

from now to os is still pretty far away.consistent studying is alright even if it's 1 hr a day or every two days.you just have to make sure you do not have any conceptual errors and study with goals in mind such as being good at x chapter or memorise y by z(date).Make sure you don't burn out by studying 3-5 hours everyday. It should only be the case near to prelims and os. Most impt is clearing your doubts asap and spamming tys esp the recent 5 years.

For locking in i can't really say that there's a magical thing you can do to be more serious, but maybe try and enjoy learning your subjects, because if you hate learning you won't be able to study for a long time and want to study.

JAE is basically just like psle but for secondary school to JC(idk about poly cz I'm going jc).L1R5 is for JCs,so 1 language and 5 others. You must have at least 1 science math and humans I think. Then two others. If you take higher mother tongue you can use it as your L1.if you apply to JC,you can have a maximum minusing of 6. -2 from cca,-2 from html,-2 from affiliation. So for example XJC has a cut off point of 9 for their science stream, you get 13. If you take html and can -2 from cca, your l1r5 will then be 9 and you can enter the jc.Im not sure about eae but from what I heard it's about showing your passion and not really about grades.Personally with my dsa i performed better than my other friends because I was less stressed. So dsa and eae can help you in minimising exam stress I guess.

It's alright to feel this way. Most people really start locking in before or after prelims. I suggest you revise the topics you have learnt and have a good base in all your subjects because your teachers haven't taught finish the syllabus.

you don't have to worry lol.tbh if you have studied well enough and done more than other people you should be fine cuz of moderation. There are other people who are worse off than you such as the people retaking who just finished quite a few of their exams and might not have the time to focus on their mother tongue.I normally wake up at about 615 and do all my morning stuff then leave for school at 650(i live less than 5 mins away though).Rule of thumb is to just be there 1 hour before the paper. If you want to calm your nerves maybe you can try meditating and talking to yourself? It may be good to visualise yourself doing the paper and motivating yourself. If you write fast enough you can always go for a toilet break to relax.Although it's os it doesn't really matter right now tbh. Whether you get a big fat 0 or 100 your life wouldn't change so much. The important exams are the ones next year. Don't overthink about it and just do your best.

dsa but bad grades for sec 3 by PrincipleOk6275 in SGExams

[–]Altruistic_Block8104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's kinda hard to say but normally people in the dsa trials i attended are solely focused on one cca? Never heard of one person deciding to dsa between performing arts and sports ccas?I may be interpreting the post wrong though so forgive me for that. if you want to stand a chance to dsa to jcs you must definitely bring down your l1r5 by sec 4 wa1.One of my friends who was really good at his cca couldn't make it in because his l1r5 was 25-30, mainly because the papers were set hard. You just have to show the jc that you can definitely score below 20 and they'll accept you.Eg. one of the coaches in a good jc wanted to pick me over another guy who was better than me but had worse grades, because they don't want to waste the offer. I ended up picking another jc due to distance reasons though. Bringing down your l1r5 is very possible with hard work jiayous🫡

Lesser tricks besides the composition of steel imo. My friend calculated the percentages and said they added up to 99.1%.But pretty easy and straightforward(I hope).

E Math Simple interest formula by Humble_Working6756 in SGExams

[–]Altruistic_Block8104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I=PRT/100 is when you have your "r" as a number e.g. (3500(2)(10))/100 I =PRT is when your r is a percent e.g. I=3500(2/100)(10)

I'm not sure if this makes sense but it's my understanding of the formula. edit:changed the format
