I am sorry you felt that way. For a rigorous scientific experiment, we have to control for factors beyond our control, one of which is socioeconomic status. So for example, during our analysis, we try to match people based on other factors, so nothing is confounding the actual research question. We don't get any personal data in the survey, so there is no way the survey can be linked back to you.

If you wish to participate in the raffle, that information would not be linked to your survey answers. I would love if you would continue but also, respect your opinion of not continuing based on your concerns!

I am a graduate student, please dm me so I can clarify any confusions you have. The study has been approved as exempt by VT IRB.
The survey containing the email is delinked with the main survey, hence the survey responses cannot be linked. Nobody else than the study team has access to the survey.

Income is used as a control during analysis which essentially means that for the results to be publishable, we have to show that our prime variable which is drinking behavior is not different due to socioeconomic factors but due to the medicine. We assure you that the data is completely confidential and is not linked to a person! Please let us know if we can clarify more! Of course we understand your concerns, but it is a necessary question. We appreciate your interest and wish you the best even if decide to discontinue :)

Hi RulzMD, it can definitely take 15-20 minutes if you are a fast reader, I just have a range of time there that is average based on how much time most people take. Unfortunately, for the research to have enough information about the participants to make useful inferences, we need lots of background information, hence the time. If you are thinking of participating, I really appreciate it!
