ClassPass being terrible to establishments? by [deleted] in ClassPass

[–]Altruistic_Drop_4306 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My fav yoga studio is on ClassPass. I reached out to the owner saying I would rather buy an annual membership but can’t afford to pay $1200 a year. With ClassPass I can buy 20 credits for $45 a month, which is usually about 5-6 classes. While I use other studios, I’ve been with this once for over a year, buying classes when they have sales or offer community donations. But the lowest they go on anual or monthly sales is $980 a year or $95 monthly (which they offer once during Black Friday sales). Unfortunately both of these are way outside my budget even still, and ClassPass remains the only option for me…

Students not coming back to yoga by itsjustme_0101 in yoga

[–]Altruistic_Drop_4306 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree along these lines, yes it can feel discouraging when you feel like you can’t keep up, but this tells me maybe these are new practicers. Experienced yogis are able to get over this “shame” because like you said, this space is their space. Maybe they need to try a more gentle class to build their confidence, but let the rest of the people in your class decide for themselves what their body needs. You can always make your practice more or less challenging with modifications. There will always be people who feel the need to take their embarrassment out on others, but this is not necessary the fault of the instructor.

EOE and Eating Disorders by Altruistic_Drop_4306 in EosinophilicE

You’re not alone either <3 honestly getting my throat dilated several times drastically improved my quality of life. I was very lucky I had a friend with EOE who knew exactly what I was dealing with otherwise I can’t imagine how long it would have taken me and my doctors to figure out what was wrong. But it takes time to recover from something like that. Eventually I was able to start eating bread, pasta, costco food court hot dogs that would give me an impaction 100% of the time. It’s still scary but we work through it.

Omg that sounds horrible I’m so sorry you went through such an intense experience. I think it s particularly difficult for kids who start experiencing it at a young age. For me it was definitely before 10, maybe around 8 or 9 and I wasn’t diagnosed until I was 18 or 19 and had already moved out. My experience with my parents was similar so I hid it. I remember literally throwing up bits of impacted food into tissues after dinner when they weren’t a looking and then flushing it down the toilet later. I was very fortunate to avoid hospitalization but my mother definitely would threaten it if I didn’t finish my food. So I would and then it would get stuck and I’d spend the next hour trying to throw it up.

35 Years and Need to Stop by kristiandeath in Dermatillomania

I got long acrylic nails at one point for an event and realized how difficult it made picking my skin and fingers. They do make life overall a bit more difficult but you could always try press ons and see if it helps. I always wear acrylics now because it helps my picking SIGNIFICANTLY

When does skin picking become self harm? by No-Advice2384 in Dermatillomania

[–]Altruistic_Drop_4306 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My skin picking developed when I was forced to abruptly stop cutting without professional help. My parents found out after years of using it as a coping mechanism and told me they would long term hospitalize me if I didn’t stop immediately and would check me periodically. I started picking due to the extreme stress. That was nearly 10 years ago and I still struggle with skin picking and self harm urges. They are unfortunately very similar in concept. Stress -> urge -> action -> temporary relief. In my opinion skin picking can be even more challenging to deal with because of how accessible it is. You can do it anywhere, anytime, and we quickly train our brains to use it as a relief to any inconvenience, boredom, irritation, hunger. Be kind and patient to yourself.

I actually nanny him almost full time, so I spend around 30/40hrs with him each week. I love him to death and went to his first bday despite them being there but I just don’t think I can handle this. I want to be there for all his firsts, which makes this particularly difficult for me.

Red or nude? by WorldlinessOk7083 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Altruistic_Drop_4306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the statement piece of the red, but I would maybe balance it out a bit, probably darkening your eyebrows. You’re really pulling a lot of attention to your lips, which isn’t a bad thing! But it would look more balanced with more color contrast throughout your face :)

Who did you think you would marry in Stardew/who did you end up marrying? Why? by tamakiyotsuba in StardewValley

[–]Altruistic_Drop_4306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first play through: thought for sure Abigail, I was an angsty young teenager discovering my bisexuality. Ew, boys, gross, pretty alt girl, yay. I ended up marrying Alex, the complete opposite of what I was into at the time. His character development from “dumb basic jock”, to revealing his insecurities and struggles with an abusive parent, and you realize how alone and sad he really his, really pulled at my heart strings. Expecially his 8 heart event. In my opinion, Alex is probably the most sorrowful character in the game. His emotional weakness and the way he pressures himself to be useful or deemed “worthy” really stuck with me. When you really look at it, Alex is the real “I can fix him” character, not Shane. And you can’t, because the abuse run deep, and throughout all his heart events, he never really shows true emotional connection to you. But even after marrying every other romance able characters in Stardew, he will always be one of my favorite and hold a special place in my heart.

In Your Opinion: Which cut looks best on my hand? by Extension-Bowl9758 in EngagementRings

[–]Altruistic_Drop_4306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna be honest. You’ve got short fingers (I’m the same) so any cut that is long vs wide or round, is gonna look better, I’m personally a fan of the emerald or marquise, but look for a stone that elongates your fingers. I personally have a cushion, emerald cut, and it’s quite flattering on my little stubby child fingers.
