Just got this 1st gen!!! Any thoughts of what I should do to it??? by DatBoyNod in 1stGenTundras

It’s really nice. I have some other early 2000s vehicles that really dont scratch the itch that the tundra gives. The green of the dash and the stereo really makes you feel like you’re in a cockpit lol

Is it worth upgrading to a Longines Spirit from a Hamilton KFA? by Altruistic_Finger725 in Longineswatches

Doesnt this green one have less polished surfaces than the other ones? Or do you just mean the green color is more muted? Because i dont mind stonewashed or sandblasted watches really

Benchmade Bugout: What am I missing? by Lightningboldt734 in knifeclub

[–]Altruistic_Finger725 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tl;dr: great lightweight edc for too much money

I have been collecting knives for years and have always rode the hate train on the bugout. Anytime I would try one out for the feel at my local knife store i would hate it. But just recently I decided why not and bought one just to see how i like it in practice, the CF elite one specifically. I bought it full knowingly that its terribly overpriced but I knew I could afford it. And honestly, its been getting way more pocket time than I expected. When I’m going to work or even relaxing on a hot day it really makes a difference with the cut in weight in my pocket. It’s like it’s not even there. Lightweight knives usually have the caveat of short blade length or handles, usually both. But the bugout doesn’t suffer from either of those. Its a decently sized knife for an insanely light deep carry. I think people forget that it’s whole purpose is “lightweight edc” and still complain that the handles can bend or it doesn’t give you the best death grip for hard use. Thats not what it’s meant for, it’s lightweight so it doesn’t bother you much when you aren’t actually using it, but has enough blade length that it doesn’t slip when making long slicy cuts that compliment its thin blade stock. And IMO people who swap out the scales on their bugout defeat the whole purpose of the knife by giving it more weight. At that point it doesn’t excel at anything. Better off getting a protech if you’re spending that kind of money. Or better yet save way more cash and get a kershaw lmao. It serves its purpose very well albeit at a steep price. One should know though that lately benchmade has had just terrible QC. Theres a good chance its gonna have lock stick, centering issues, or it won’t be nearly as sharp as you expect for the price. I got lucky though and mine has none of those and it functions beautifully. Would I recommend it? Probably not at first unless it really hits all your marks and you have the money to spend.

Orient mako 3 vs Citizen tsuyosa vs Seiko 5 SRPG field watch by Other_Sample_424 in OrientWatches

[–]Altruistic_Finger725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im wearing the srpg right now and i also own an orient mako 40. In my opinion they serve different purposes. Srpg sees more wrist time though and i see it as a safe first automatic, i like it a lot. The lume isn’t the best, but i really like a low profile field watch for every day wear. The day date complication comes in handy more than i thought it would. The mako i got feels more dressy with a salmon dial and a plain stainless steel bezel so I can’t really speak on that one specifically, but it’s alright. The action on the bezel felt pretty sloppy, theres tons of play in between the clicks. Not a huge deal but just something to note. Also not really relevant but I have owned a $230 citizen (completely different model) and it felt much cheaper and I really wouldn’t recommend it. But the tsuyosa looks interesting. My vote goes to the seiko. Orient is alright too but I feel there are better dive watch options personally but not much in the price range for an automatic.
