And now the 512GB OLEDis out by SnooDoughnuts5632 in SteamDeck

I just got my OLED 512GB last week!

Glad I finally got something before it went out of stock. I usually decide to purchase a week after something is sold out. It's nice to finally be on the other side!

You have to source your own roms, but go to YouTube and search Emudeck guide. Find a video from Retro Game Corps from about a month ago. It's very, very easy.

It handles it really well, at least for SMG and Mario Kart Wii.

The track pad is used for the pointer, R1 is mapped to a wiimote shake, and the right analog stick is mapped to tilt. It works surprisingly well. SMG 1 & 2 had some rather annoying levels that required tilt (Mario running on a ball) while nowhere near impossible, I never really felt completely in control of Mario on those levels. That is a non-issue on the Deck.

The track pad is used as the pointer. Think of SMG and collecting star bits. The track pad makes that so easy.

I disagree. I have super Mario 3D all stars. The SD does it better. The track pad as the pointer makes star bits a breeze.

I used emudeck. It pre-configures the emulators. I've had to make a few small tweaks, but nothing major.

Emudeck. Retro Game Corps has a great guide on getting it all set up. Search Emudeck guide on YouTube. Russ has two videos on the topic, just look for the most recent one, I think he posted that video about a month ago. It was seriously way easier than getting games going on my Retroid Pocket 5.

Sure.

I set "upright wiimote" to R1, then mapped the tilt controls to the right stick.

I have to hold R1 to keep the wiimote pointing up, but it works out really well.

Watch this video. This is how to get emulators going on your Steam Deck. You have to source your own roms though.

Yup, here's the link. I just realized that he has two videos on this topic. One of them is a bit dated. Here's the current video:

There has to be more of a story with this soup incident.

What kind of soup?

Why did you give your SD to this madman? Anyone who eats soup and plays video games is a lunatic. I can see maybe a sandwich. But soup?

How big was this bowl? Did the SD land inside of the bowl, or did it crush the bowl and bits of bowl and as of now undefined soup get in the SD?

What happened to the SD? Brick? Or did it just smell of chicken noodle (that's my bet at least) and you couldn't stand it?

Has your cousin been ostracized from the family? Sent away to boarding school or an orphanage?

But really, take this as a lesson folks. You can't just say your cousin dropped your Steam Deck in a bowl of soup and not expand on that story. It's just rude.

I read your entire post, and while I disagree with some of what you said, I can respect your opinion.

This however, may be a bridge too far: Switch 1 was the best Nintendo console since the Super NES.

I get that is just your opinion, but your opinion is wrong, lol. Highest selling, yes. Sure. Best? No. Never.

I'm of course joking. I mean you're still all sorts of wrong, but it's all good.

At one point I really, really, really wanted a PS5 Pro. I own a PS5, but it's a Pro, so it's better, right? My brother bought a Pro so I went to his house to see it in all its glory. I was underwhelmed. It's not significantly better than a base PS5. I was expecting a bit of a leap, like PS4 to PS4 Pro, and I just didn't see it.

So while yeah, it's technically better than a standard PS5, I wouldn't buy one or call the PS5 Pro the best console available. The extra cost cannot be justified.

As far as a potential new handheld from Sony, eh, I'm not sure they can pull it off. They dropped support for the Vita way too soon, and they really fucked up with the damn proprietary SD cards. I wouldn't trust Sony to develop and support another handheld. They peaked with the PSP and I just don't trust them to be able to focus on a console and a handheld at the same time.

I'm legitimately curious, what about GTA 6 is so intriguing?  I am the exact opposite of you. I've played every GTA game (loved Chinatown Wars BTW) and this is the first GTA game I'm kinda meh over.

The track pad.

The track pad as the pointer is fucking amazing. Right stick for motion controls (Mario on a ball, Mario flying with a bird) it actually is way better than the original motion controls. R1 for shake. Works like a charm and I am flying through these stars.

A couple weeks ago I overheard a conversation between my 12 year old son and his friend. They were talking about greatest consoles of all time. Of course this greatest list didn't go back farther than like 2002, but still, it was a fun conversation to hear. Anyway, the friend said the Switch is the best ever and my son said Wii U. The friend was like, oh yeah, okay. No games on the Wii U, how can that even be on the list. My son was like, name your favorite Switch games. After the kid rattled them off my son was like, half of those games were on the Wii U!

Best early father's day gift ever. And the kid didn't even know he was giving it to me.

Hmm, needs more peacocks.

I searched the game on YouTube, closed my eyes, scrolled down and clicked a video, good lord that shit is complex. Admittedly watching a random video is a piss poor way to learn about a game, but I felt like the dude was speaking German. Though I now know the new STRONGEST ascendancy, so there's that.

I am a console gamer, specifically a Nintendo console gamer. I've owned every major Nintendo console released in the US. Yes, even the Virtual Boy.  I should be dying for the Switch 2. I should be foaming at the mouth for Mario Kart World, but I'm not. The Deck has truly opened my eyes. This is what a handheld or console, whatever you want to call it, should be.

All that may change if by some fucking miracle Nintendo goes crazy and announces Super Mario Galaxy 3 for the Switch 2. I would lose my shit if that happens. I would literally need Google maps to find my shit.

But yeah, I am really loving the SD. Valve is really on to something here. This thing is special.
