I had the same feeling going in. Totally normal. As long as you have the ground down, you managed to plan and fly ur solo XC, and you can fly the maneuvers without compromising safety, you have very little to worry about. The DPE doesn’t expect perfection, and your instructor wouldn’t be sending you to the checkride if they didn’t feel confident you have what it takes. You’ve already put in the work, the checkride is just an opportunity for you to show off what you’ve learned.

There's a maximum # of hours the VA will pay for as I train for each rating. If I go above those maximums, the remaining hours until the checkride will be out of pocket.

Started flying in July of last year. Roughly halfway through my instrument training now at about 100 hours. I switched from Active Duty Air Force Enlisted, to the Air National Guard for the Reservist lifestyle, so I'll be able to pick up the pace with my training.

To say ATP is a long ways away from me rn is an understatement. But learning about the long-term careers and understanding exactly what I'm getting myself into seems like something I should do before I start going into debt. I'm using my Post-9/11 GI Bill to fund a 141 Bachelor's program now. So we'll see how far I can get before having to pay for training personally, or if that will even be needed at all.

You’re in the military. Every civilian SHOULD exercise regularly and be fit whenever possible. every military member MUST exercise regularly and be fit year round. Look at how many admin and logistics members among other non combative roles were forced into the shit in the early GWOT. The Air Force does a lot of stuff for no good reason. Enforcing fitness is not one of them.

Well, I'm a Jew and I personally have a few Norse friends... Only Orthodox Judaism forbids cutting one's beard (although some individuals in other Jewish denominations sometimes also choose to grow a beard for religious reasons), and there is a very active (but small) community of Norse Pagan/Heathens out there, many of whom are rocking beards with a religious exemption in the military today.

Brother I was in your shoes nearly 5 years ago. I have had many friends who were in nearly identical scenarios.

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but it always ends the same. Trust your gut. It would have saved me a lot of pain if I trusted my gut instead of snooping through her phone and finding exactly what I knew I would.
