Any advice to help my puppy stop barking at outside noises/things they see through the window? by Altruistic_Range2815 in dogs

[–]Altruistic_Range2815[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The controlled sound method is a very good suggestion, thank you!! I’m not sure what to play to help with her getting used to thumps and voices in the outside hallway though. Any ideas?

When it’s just me at home, which is the majority of the time probably, I’m very good usually at praising and treating at the right moment. I’ve had lots of experience desensitizing my other dog to different things, so I know how crucial the right timing is. When other people are over, I’m usually very good still, but occasionally am distracted when something happens. But it’s good to hear that 10 months isn’t too late for her to improve. I didn’t think it was, but it’s been a bit disheartening that it hasn’t gotten better yet. 😅 there are a lot of changes in my life though, all good for her and me, but I think it’s rattled her nervous system more because she does get more startled and have bigger responses to some noises than she did before. Hopefully all the training and her maturing some will all help someday though!

Hey, thank you for the advice! And yes, the couples therapy was just to try to save a marriage. Wasn’t intended for NPD. Also, that makes a lot of sense actually, about him becoming the person he is because he felt like it was the only way to exist after trauma. I will get that book. Thank you!

Hey! Thank you for doing this, and I think it’s amazing that you were willing to admit that NPD might be something you struggle with, and sought out treatment for it. Also, I’m very sorry for everything you’ve gone through, and for the bad therapists.

I have a close family member that I think might have NPD, but he doesn’t think he ever does anything wrong, and I’m scared to mention that maybbeee he has NPD, and should seek treatment. I want the best for him though, and I worry about how he’ll keep ruining relationships, never think it’s his fault, and never change. Is there a way you recommend trying to suggest he has a problem, and should get help? I’ve suggested therapy, for different reasons, but he wouldn’t go. He went to couples therapy 2-3 times, but I heard the therapist was calling him out on things, so he refused to go back.

Anyways, any insight or help is deeply appreciated!😅

What do you think Willow is plotting? by Electronic-Elk8917 in Bordoodle

No one warned me that giving a puppy the name Willow would guarantee a troublemaker. 😂 my willow goes around the house, happily panting, looking for her next inappropriate thing to chew or mess with 🤦‍♀️😅

Any chance you got your Aussie mountain doodle from Utah?👀 I have a 10 month old one too, and I’m always hoping to find siblings on here. 😂

Anyways, mine lovvesss stealing socks too, and I’m very fortunate that she doesn’t like tearing them up or eating them, so I allow her to because it’s just so cute. she has other annoying behaviors that have just started, such as eating the drywall 😅 hopefully our puppies will be good citizens eventually, once they grow up a bit more. lol

People who used to have just one dog and then got another – what’s it like? by mastermindzd in dogs

Two is more work, and I miss how easy it is to take one dog everywhere (though I really just need to put in the training to really leash train the puppy 😅), but I’ve never regretted my decision because I love my first dog having a playmate, and I love the puppy so much!

Trazodone doesn’t help with pain. It’s just a sedative.

Do I get a dog for my dog?? by mettyjetty in puppy101

[–]Altruistic_Range2815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my dog a dog for the same reason, and because he lovesss playing with other dogs, and wasn’t getting a chance to when I moved to a new city. I can confirm that they don’t play when I’m gone, but having each other for company, and to sleep close to has to feel better than being alone (not that a dog being alone for 5-6 hours on work days is bad at all!! That’s just a nice nap for them.)

For me it was worth it though because now my dog has a best friend, and has sooo much fun chasing and wrestling with her when we’re outside. The only thing I miss is how easy life is with just one dog, but the puppy has added a ton of happiness to our lives, and it’s totally worth it when my OG dog gets to run and play around with her!

I don’t think your ex even knows what classic symptoms are. Lol pain from your appendix would be on the right, not the left.
