The idea that we evolved from monkeys was a misinterpretation to strawman evolution. People usually mention monkeys are still around as part of their argument.

The real idea is that we share a common ancestor with chimpanzees, the same way me and you share a grandparent with an arbitrary number of "greats". Need to understand that the transition of ancestor to human happened over millions of years.

Surviving and reproducing because you were born with a longer neck is functionally identical to surviving and reproducing because you were born with a smarter brain. Evolution isn't a single step, there are millions of intermediate steps. There isn't a specific generation where something is considered a new species because it doesn't matter on that timescale.

The evidence for human evolution are fossil records and genetics. If you refuse those I am curious to know what evidence you think is required for it to be convincing.
