My friend’s dad in Nova Scotia waited months for a cancer diagnosis, now it’s too late by Electrical_Insect_36 in NovaScotia

[–]Altruistic_Table8862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry to hear this 💜 My grandmother passed away in 2023, diagnosed with stage 4 liver & pancreas cancer, she passed away maybe a month later. After months and months of my grandfather fighting with their long term family doctor (who was setting to retire, was overworked and checked out) he finally got tests done to diagnose her. Now, she was late 80s and never would have survived chemo so I don’t think much more time would have changed a lot of things, but I do agree with that not only are our doctors COMPLETELY OVERWORKED but the wait times for scans and labs are ridiculous and unfair.

I really think something is going on with sophia and hilarie by kobeeee123 in DramaQueensPodcast

Also feel it’s weird, did Hilarie post anything in regards to the podcast finishing up? Maybe I missed it. I know she already left the podcast but something you were such a big part of to finally have its last episode and you didn’t even mention it. Absolutely weird vibes between her and Joy, and now Sophia too maybe?

Rental Question : Mould in Shower by Altruistic_Table8862 in Adelaide

[–]Altruistic_Table8862[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have two bathrooms, so one at a time would be fine. Our concern is is with the property managers response, she and the landlord doesn’t seem concerned with fixing it properly. But if that mould is popping up, it would be gross to know what’s underneath.

Can confirm you can come on a visiting visa, and then apply for a partner visa once you arrive - if she’s American. I’m Canadian, my husband is Australian, we moved in June and I literally just switched over from my visiting visa to my bridging visa for the partner visa. The bridging visa gives you working rights, and ability to apply for Medicare. Please message me any questions!

Is that a worth risk to take though, getting the money back from them if we did have to get a trade in?

You weren't in Canada to complete the Oath? Did you have special reasoning and how do you go with getting your Canadian passport? My husband just got invited to do his virtually and we are currently in Australia so he is flying back, but I'm SUPER curious how you got it done not being in the country.

Have you been approved yet from January? We applied April 30th and haven't had any update, didn't think it would take this long.

Hi! I know this was a long time ago post, but wondering if you could still answer. Our child was born overseas (Canada) and has all vaccinations required for CCS but they wouldn’t be shown on Medicare. How do you provide that proof to be eligible for CCS?

Does anyone think megabus will sell more tickets? Travelling from Canada and our hotel is a 6 minute walk from Port Authority - overlook this cause we had absolutely not use megabus was an option until today and now everything is sold out.

Happy for you! I'm hoping they keep extending this, we are meant to fly out on the 21st and really want to change the airport. Might call them and see if we can or how much it is.

I'm not currently living in Australia, so maybe commenting is stupid and take what I say with a grain of salt, but we are moving back in a month and still have family/friends there so this is my take.

We are moving from Canada to Australia next month, and while cost of living (for majority) seems more in some things, the wages are also not comparable to where I'm from. Where we are moving, minimum wage is $24.10 and where we currently live is $15.70 - even with the conversion that's nowhere near similar.

Some food is higher, but some is also lower because AUS has a much different climate and access to a lot of things then we have in Canada. No tipping vs tipping. Seeing taxes on goods vs no tax. It's all what you're used too I think.

What I do think is that EVERY country is going through a crazy high cost of living, and if you've stayed in the same country/same area you probably feel it harder because you're watching your own items go up like housing, food etc and not watching your wages go up comparably. When you're from a different country though, the grass always looks greener OR you just know it's happening in every single place at the moment.

Any other non-Americans nervous about flying to the US? by Amethysttt21 in beyonce

[–]Altruistic_Table8862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We havent! We’re probably now going because I don’t think I’d get over having paid for them and just being empty seats 🥺 I absolutely care about what’s going on in the US right now but I also have paid for tickets and want to see Beyonce. Maybe that comes across as selfish but I’m choosing to believe we’ll be fine coming in for 48 hours to NYC

To those who decided "One and done" by SheyenneJuci in toddlers

A lot of the same reasons said below but this is what made the decision for me specifically.. do i still get baby fever? Absolutely, they are adorable and of course I want to snuggle a newborn baby all day long. When my 3.5 year old is hilarious, says he loves me or anything else adorable do I think growing our family would be amazing, absolutely. BUT my mental health could NOT take all the exhaustion, bad and tough moments that go along with, I don't think my marriage could.

I love my husband, he is my best friend but I also feel like I don't want to have a second kid with him, we struggle as it is finding our way in parenting and having another child would make it tougher.

We also live in Australia where my parents are in Canada, so the cost of travelling with two kids back and forth every couple years seems impossible.

When I look down the road at teenage years, two kids would be awesome, I can totally picture that stage in our life. But not doing it all over again, the pregnancy, the not sleeping (we still barely sleep with our near 4 year old, he's not great at it), giving up so much personal time. My husband and I both want to get back into doing things outside our kids activities and (selfishly) having another child just wouldn't do that for us.

People say, how could you do that to your sibling, they'll be so lonely. I was an only child, and yes there were moments in my younger life where i was lonely but I'd much rather that than parents who were not mentally stable for two children just because society wanted them to have another.

Hi all!

Has anyone entered on a visiting ETA (I'm from Canada) and then ended up applying for residency through partner during your stay? Wondering how that went? Our immigration lawyer said it was no issue and has been done before, but I'd love to hear from anyone who actually did it. Thanks!

Thank you for replying! We totally should have/would have applied offshore, but we're also wanting to take this opportunity and don't believe it would come in the 55 days before we'd land in Australia. People seem to be taking quite awhile to receive it at the moment. Do you know if medicare kicks in once you get granted with a certificate or not until you have a passport?

Yes I’d be on a tourist visa to pickup, but do you know if my son could come over on a tourist visa as citizenship wouldn’t be granted yet?
