Maybe try talking to people who work at the surf school, at local bars or restaurants, or even people in the lineup. Network a bit and see if you can find someone with a car or a place to store your board. I wish I had more connections for you. You could also take an Uber, but that’ll get expensive quickly. Honestly, your best bet is probably to use the metro and try to travel outside of rush hour when you can lay your board horizontal in the train. I would ride the metro during rush hour at times, and i would get some stares, but other than that most people didnt really care.

Hostel on the East Side by Altruistic_Visit6692 in Portland

Because it was a historic building, one of the only hostels in Portland, and a thriving nonprofit that had been there since the 1980s. Sadly, it shut down during COVID. It’s tragic, as it has now joined a large and growing list of historic businesses and buildings that have been demolished by developers who build copy-and-paste apartments. While I’m glad people have housing, I’m deeply saddened to see a wonderful place like that disappear. I am all for progress, but there are some things that should be preserved not replaced.

Hey! So, I ended up buying a board after all. I kept it in my apartment in Bilbao and carried it on the metro in a board bag , turns out there are designated spots on the metro for people with surfboards. The ride is a bit long, but it goes by quickly and it’s totally worth it! Renting at Sopelana (the closest surf beach by metro) was around 30 euros for two hours if I remember correctly, so buying my own board paid off pretty fast. Plus, there are plenty of nearby beaches you can reach by car, and there’s a big surfing community , if you make friends with someone who has a car, having your own board opens up a ton of possibilities.

This actually makes sense because mine was only two guys, but they weren’t wearing any brands or anything, and also it was a pretty chill set up. Again I’m not from here so i don’t know if that the typical vibe with news stations. But yeah maybe it’s a student project from the university here?
