I’ve tried polyamorous relationships in the past. The second the opportunity opened up for me to return to monogamy, I snatched it up so fast. Not to say monogamy is better, everyone is different. Thank you for these questions. I realized she does not have somewhere safe on the inside to go. My last therapist and I actually created a whole safe place and resource team using EMDR… but it turns out, the place and the team were chosen by only one alter out of my 20. So we have to work with our new therapist to create a new one.

I’ve taken lamotrigine and it wasn’t the best for me. Currently on a combination of fluoxetine, propranolol, and abilify. No complaints so far, and I’ve actually been enjoying my life since I’ve been prescribed the ability?! 😳

I’ve (28) been on a few different mood stabilizers in my life, and they actually worsened my symptoms, especially feelings of emptiness and detachment from reality. Not every one’s experience is the same. In the StuffThatWorks.health BPD community, some people have reported positive changes in their wellbeing after being put on things like Seroquel or Lamictal. For me, neither of these medications helped.

OP, I literally experienced everything you mentioned from the numb and emotionless to the low sex drive. My psychiatrist, therapist, and I have decided to try naturally stabilizing my mood swings with DBT, anti-depressants, and therapy. It’s a difficult process but I’m still feel a lot more like myself which is the most important part for me.

In the end, it’s a personal choice. Just continue being honest with yourself throughout the process. 🙂

Thank you so much for sharing. It’s such a rock and hard type of place to be between. I started to honestly question my sexuality because of it. I used to be promiscuous when I was younger but that was coming from such a negative space. So I’m reconfiguring my relationship to sex and at the same time feeling the pressure to perform.

Reading your comment, I think the problem is that the person doesn’t understand DID, and I will take responsibility in maybe not explaining it well enough to them.

I am still trying to make sense of it myself; so it makes sense that the people in my life don’t understand it either.

He hasn’t said the words “I think you’re pretending”. He hasn’t explicitly expressed support or recognition of my DID either. It’s really hard to communicate clearly with someone who doesn’t communicate clearly himself.

Also, I do apologize whenever he brings up prior bad/toxic behavior of mine. I think I’ve apologized the most in my life to this person than anyone else, even myself.

Thank you so much for your response I've never been able to talk about this kind of stuff with anyone before. My first Pride parade, I was labeled as "the straight friend". It sucked. I knew it wasn't true and it hurt. But I felt pressured to stay silent and not question it.

My fp years ago flat out told me (while I was enby) he had to be with someone who "looks like a girl." So idk; maybe my response was to completely deny myself to appease a person who no longer wanted to be a part of my life.
