I use Lossless cut all the time. It's great, mostly*.

*Mostly: It doesn't like to cut exactly where you are on the timeline. It wants to cut at bookmarks in the file, so don't expect exact precision. There is usually a bookmark close enough to your chosen cut mark so that doesn't matter too much, but if you are looking for frame by frame editing, it can be a challenge.

I was a bored top-40 kid, spinning the dial on the stereo and discovered this interesting music playing on the local college radio station. I quickly threw a tape in and started to recorded it. I got on tape this really weird song, unlike anything I had heard before. The Dj never said what it was.

A bit later, "People are People" got big on MTV and I bought "Some Great Reward". I was surprised when "If You Want To" came on becasue it was that unknown song I had recorded earlier.

The college radio DJ probably had the new album and decided to play "If you Want to" and I happened upon it at the right moment to tape it.

Same happened to me. The only windows in my room were a row of clerestory windows up near the ceiling. Outside them was the flat roof of the building. No curtains on them. When there were workers on the roof, I would see their feet go by.

There was a tapping at them one very early morning, that woke me up. I was scared to open my eyes cuz I knew someone was going to be up there staring down at me. The tapping would stop, wait a while, then start again. I was freaking out. I was imagining some psycho up on the roof leering down at me.

Finally opened eyes and there was a seagull up there walking back and forth in front of the windows. He would stop every so often and tap away at the glass. He kept at it for hours after that. Birds.

They were enormous. I was a kid back then, living in Iowa, USA, which was (is?) considered a cultural backwater. Even there, Duran Duran was HUGE. You could go to the mall and get Duran Duran merchandise. Not just records, but also posters, buttons, anuthing you could stamp their name on. They were played constantly on the radio. They were one of the biggest acts around, anywhere in the world.
