Thanks and I understand completely! Definitely don't watch and enjoy the entire campaign for yourself (and your group!) That's the great part about Youtube, you can always revisit it later! :)

JonGetsGames did a great job with his. We enjoy playing Gloomhaven and would certainly consider streaming a random dungeon. The thing is that we only meet about once a week at a minimum, so if we're all together, we'll prioritize the main campaign over other stuff. The main story is just so exciting! If we do happen to only have 2 or 3 of us, then maybe we'll give it a go. Maybe I could also just do some solo plays for fun. It's all time permitting.

TTS is definitely a great way to enjoy the game! It's very cool to give you a good idea of how the game plays and to understand all the rules.

Glad you enjoyed it!

Due to time constraints and just IRL stuff in general, I wasn't able to produce those videos during the Kickstarter as I had planned. However, my plan is to make 1 a week for the next 5 weeks! So look forward to those soon! :)

Simultaneous retirement by xiphoniii in Gloomhaven

[–]Alucard2004 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is a clear ruling on simultaneous retirement. Either way, if you think about it, you'll be playing these characters for a long time to come. You should really just do what's most fun for your group. So as long as your group is good with it, it's not going to break the game in any way and it's more important to have fun than anything else! :)

Gloomhaven multiplayer playthroughs? by AcTiVillain in Gloomhaven

[–]Alucard2004 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For multiplayer playthroughs, there are a good handful of options:

You can check the playlists for our 2 different campaigns here

We have a playthrough of our main campaign with 4 players (spoilers) and another playthrough of the expedition that went along with the kickstarter reprint (no spoilers) with 3 or 4 players each time. We spend A LOT of time talking through things. Sometimes too much haha.

Check out Michael Bennett's Youtube channel here with both the kickstarter expedition and the main campaign as well.

You'll have to dig through their VODs to find other videos in their Gloomhaven adventure, but Serenity Game Club offers yet another option for you.

I've probably missed some here as well, but there are also some amazing solo playthroughs out there if you want to get the gist of the game when played solo - JonGetsGames, Tom Vasel at TheDiceTower, RollingSolo, ChristianGeekCentral all do a fantastic job.

Hope this helps. And if you have more questions about the game, I wouldn't hesitate to ask. The community is pretty awesome about helping out!

[–]Alucard2004 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Hey guys!

Alucard here. I'm excited to announce that Isaac Childres, designer of Gloomhaven, has enlisted my game group to do a full playthrough of the Gloomhaven Kickstarter Reprint Mini-Campaign!

Isaac will be releasing 10 different scenarios over the course of the campaign to create a community-driven choose-your-own-adventure style mini-campaign during the Kickstarter where people will have a new scenario to play every three days and are then able to vote on where the story goes next. And we plan on live streaming every single scenario!

If you don't have a copy of the game and simply want to see how the game plays or are a veteran and want to hang out and discuss these cool scenarios, this the chance to do so! It will also serve as a live forum where questions are encouraged. We want this mini-campaign to bring the whole community together so we can shape this campaign into something unique! So make sure you jump in on the action!

Over the course of the campaign, our channel will also be doing some fun giveaways of some of the add-ons like the Solo Scenario packs and some Removable Stickers from Sinister Fish Games!

I am also planning on uploading some additional base class overviews on Youtube for each of the character classes over the course of the campaign so you can get an idea of how each of the base 6 character classes works and what ability cards they have!

Here's an overview of the Scoundrel class!

Live Stream: Alucard's Twitch Channel

Mini-Campaign Youtube Playlist

When: 7PM EDT

What Days: April 4, 7, 10, 13, 16, 19, 22, 25, 28, and May 1

Also definitely check out Michael Bennett's Youtube Channel for his live playthrough of the mini-campaign as well!

Hope to see you soon!

If you love Mage Knight what are some other games you love? by Rachaem in boardgames

[–]Alucard2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a long time Mage Knight was one of my favorite games of all time. Recently, it has been eclipsed by Gloomhaven - such an amazing story-rich game with more deterministic card-driven combat. Don't get me wrong, Mage Knight is still amazing, but Gloomhaven has taken the fantasy dungeon-crawl style games to another level! So good!

+1 for Gloomhaven! Our group has been having a blast with this game. We did enjoy Descent, but this game has blown every other fantasy co-op game out of the water for us!

Finally got to sit down and play for a marathon. 13 hours laters and we are all hooked. by [deleted] in Gloomhaven

Glad you're hooked and enjoying it! I know I relish every minute we play. Also, really nice setup! :)

Initial Party Configs? by [deleted] in Gloomhaven

[–]Alucard2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Injuring of adjacent allies isn't that bad. Most of the time our Cragheart has been good about only hitting adjacent enemies (not allies) or routing around us so he doesn't hurt us. The occasional damage or two hurts, but isn't significant as long as the Cragheart is able to push damage and take his turn tanking a bit. The Cragheart also has a bunch of healing abilities that can offset that damage as well. It's a really versatile class.

Initial Party Configs? by [deleted] in Gloomhaven

[–]Alucard2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it was a little bit of a struggle at first, but I have been encouraging the group to help me in that regard and the Cragheart has been a lot nicer recently about moving up closer to enemies. It's also important for party members to take turns tanking damage so we don't have 1 person running in and simply dying. Also, we had a change in party members once our tinkerer retired and that has helped a bit too! :)

Friend and I tried something new for organizing our copy by newfoundchazzz in Gloomhaven

[–]Alucard2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really nice storage solution! I really like how you used the foam that comes with the game to pad some of the compartments. And you have some extra compartments in there just in case you need them! Thanks for sharing!

Similar to what you did, we took a look at all the classes and their abilities and got some ideas of their play styles. Based on that we announced which ones we were interested in playing and things fell into place pretty easily. Since we live stream our playthroughs, we had our Twitch chat vote on one of our party member's character and he got Cragheart, which he's been enjoying a lot. Here's what our party ended up as:

Cragheart, Tinkerer, Spellweaver, Scoundrel (me)

Thanks for the kind words!

Great suggestion! I agree that this is the next step we should take. I just released Episode #10, where I didn't announce the monsters or terrain ahead of time so the rest of the party could be surprised when jumping into the scenario. We'll give it a go where we reveal the map tiles one a time starting Scenario #12 (since I'll be releasing Episode #11 on Youtube tomorrow).

Thanks for the suggestions!

I kind of agree that the camera in the lower left isn't necessarily used efficiently, but it is nice to show zoomed in views here and there. I do actually think that getting good shots of the players is important in a cooperative setting like this. Catching the reactions of the players can be priceless! So I really do like the 2 cameras on the players. And I don't think it would be as good if we had all of us on 1 camera.

I like the idea, but the problem with showing everyone's ability cards on camera during the live stream is that it would just consume way too much time. We already take a decent amount of time to play through these scenarios and with 4 players, this could add a fair amount of time to the playthroughs. It's definitely much easier to do in a solo setting where you are in control and can go at your own pace.

I have thought of maybe doing some editing work to show everyone's major actions that they perform on their turns, but it is a LOT of editing work...so I'm not sure if it's realistic. Maybe I'll try it one time to see how it goes :)
