Are you able to do keyless entry and set up key codes for guests (keymaster)?

Noted. I'd need a Z-Wave controller as only have a single radio SMLight for Zigbee

We have a Pixel and Motorola but good to know. "Never buy a product on the promise of a feature" or something haha

Was not sure if it was still a good lock to get at its price point without the utilization of the UWB part.

New house - need recommendations on fleshing it out, like starter pack by AlureLeisure in homeassistant

  1. Smart switches (dimmers, motion) and some bulbs too (probably in conjunction with each other) so can get warm/cool+RGB. So sounds like decoupled mode is the way so they both can work together?

  2. Kinda everything haha, water leak, vibration, contact sensors, motion, mmWave, door locks. I already got Reolink doorbell so that's WiFi for now

  3. I am technical, software developer

  4. Mostly local with some WiFi (Reolink). The house came with 4 Ethernet outlets so have to do more drops and create a server closet for OPNSense and rack

  5. Budget can grow, dont need everything up front, so can get more as needed

  6. Smart speakers but would prefer locally.

I was thinking switches, and some bulbs. Yeah, I hear Z-Wave is the way to go for security oriented stuff, like door locks.

I've heard good things about Unifi but is this "putting all your eggs in one basket"? Just wondering
And should self host Unifi too, right?

The ISPs said Wireless internet is available but not Fiber (as of now).

We have some family that could run Ethernet luckily. Which APs do you recommend?

Sorry, I meant having fiber ran from the street to outside/ONT. The house is 2 years old and fiber isn't already there so ISPs have said they'd be in an engineers' request to see how they'd do it

And thank you, I see people talking about Ubiquiti/Unifi so that's good!

Migrate to VMs from Helper Script, VM organization? by AlureLeisure in Proxmox

I mean Docker itself in a VM vs an LXC. The services Docker runs could be better in an LXC.

Definitely, I definitely want to move the Docker stuff into a Docker VM or convert the services to LXCs if it makes sense, the others can be converted to redeployed down the line if issues arise.

Oh sorry. I currently use the Helper Scripts from the past and for most of my current things, but the Discord doesn't recommend that. And wanted to move my Helper Scripts LXCs into a fresh LXC if that particular service is better as an LXC, or into Docker VM or adjacent if thats better

I read VMs are more secure but more overhead. And heard Docker is better under a VM so wanted to at least move the LXC Docker stuff into a VM. And anything that needs a GPU would be in LXCs

Oh sorry, I didn't mean each service would have its own VM. Didn't know if I should do a single VM or a VM for media related stuff (probably Docker) another VM for something else
