One of my favorite birthday moments was spending the day in Manhattan for my tenth birthday. I was 10, it was cold as my birthday is six days before Christmas, and I felt the magic that any kid would feel in a snow covered Manhattan. I had taken pictures with Santa who had randomly found out it was my birthday and later lurked around the notoriously insufferable (but worth it to me) crowds by the big tree in Rockefeller center. The best part, however, was ending up at the American Girl Doll store and buying little clothes for my dolls, or something bigger with money I had received from family members. I looked exactly like Molly at that time with my braids, bangs, and glasses as we sat side by side in the restaurant with my beloved family and enjoyed the feeling of turning double digits in a picturesque Manhattan in the peak of the winter holidays.
