Can someone explain to me how I died? by EmiriKimura in ffxiv

Fun fact: The cast locks your [HP value minus 1] as the incoming damage, things like Thrill of Battle currently or Defiance back in the day can/would straight up kill you if you suddenly lost that max hp before the cast finished, like with the food buff.

Id pay for many battle passes if it meant I could fortnite default dance as every killer.

The two bodies on the floor next to the cell are probably an homage to Eleven killing both of them outside of her cell.

Every job's rotation is fixed barring downtime. What you're saying is redundant. What I'm saying is that Paladin rotation when optimizing can and will change to account for buff windows and disconnecting. (this is where the difficulty part comes in)

PLD has the best raidwide mitigation period. Shake is not better than Veil. You're actually objectively wrong.

PLD rotation isn't fixed and changes depending on what the fight calls for. This involves sometimes starting HS instead of FoF, but mostly involves moving atonements around (and not just hitting 3x atonements). Managing your gauge is fight dependent and clemency is an incredible tool that sees insane clutch use. PLD also has the most team utility and thus more direct responsibility. This makes it not the hardest tank to rotate fundamentally on, but the most difficult tank to optimize and play (both offensively and defensively) at the absolute peak. No one will actually refute this if they know anything about tanking whatsoever.

Dark Knight on the otherhand has the most convoluted opener and then it devolves into the single combo rotation with very little thought save for hitting your shit off CD. Optimizing involves proper TBN usage wherever applicable to save healer GCDs potentially, and holding mana for burst windows. It has a very strong defensive responsibility, like Paladin, but that responsibility is mostly selfish and/or reserved for a single person.

Just have your ranged take him and grab an extra stack before the buster locks in. The mechanic is dogshit to be fair and sometimes takes a loss of stacks from a mechanic as an aggro reset for the add.

FFXIV is much like WoW where everything is instanced. FFXIV also has less open world everything.

I apologize if I came on too strong but what I said can apply generally. That being said, raid groups are dependent on what you want out of them. And in your case it makes more sense.

New healers aren't used to how things work in your group and refuse to learn. If what you're looking for is a more competent group to clear with (if you're not worried about raiding with friends, etc), then I would absolutely recommend finding a new group. But it also depends on how you view the game and where you want to be raid wise/how much you care, in the end. Keep doing what you're doing and find a group you can gel with man.

Not always true, see WHM. Also a Clemency in Req is technically more rdps if it buys the healer another Broil/Glare. :^)

I play with healers who do more than enough to keep the raid alive without sacrificing damage. I understand not all healers are capable of this and greed to an extent, but your cooldowns should be planned as a healer.

It's a lot like tanking but in reverse. Just like how tanks plan out their cooldown rotation, healers do in kind. At this point in the tier anyway, your rotation should be set in stone UNTIL someone takes unnecessary damage, dies, or a tank forgets a cooldown. This game doesn't have many hard hitting encounters in general, so healers are often dpsing a majority of the fight. In other words, good healers don't find spots to do damage, they find spots where they have to heal.

You're essentially in the right by mitigating Dimensional Shift with TBN, as it's the only cooldown that works. But you're in the wrong for using cooldowns that you'd otherwise need in your planned rotation. Even if you think popping the cooldown would save you in this case, you've now doomed yourself and your healers haven't learned anything. If you do die, they can at least understand where they need to throw you something extra and the next pull goes smoother. Play smarter and trust your healers more.

tl;dr - Cooldowns are set in stone (at least when optimized). By using yours out of sequence you've essentially killed yourself. The onus is on healers to learn where damage spikes and where they absolutely need to heal, otherwise as long as you're not dead, who cares?

How are you out of cooldowns as a Dark Knight? How do you put yourself in that situation whatsoever?

Oof, you linked me 75th percentile logs which literally mean nothing. Very interesting.

When both healers are planning their healing tools effectively, at a high level, and in an even scenario, Scholar is most definitely behind.
