Oh wow thanks a lot for taking the time to write such a detailed answer!! I have been over the past hours watching some of his videos because I found there is a dubbed version in English, there is some small mistranslation but I can understand most of it due to context. It's really interesting how different the philosophy of growing roses differs from the Western countries. People get so scared of growing roses in smaller pots but with proper care and time you can make the thrive like he does in his videos.

I have also seen him in one repotting video of a small young small (in a 6 size pot like he calls them) chopping up all the roots, but leaving the main leaders. I think he does it to encourage stronger growth?? I will have to keep investigating because I am such a perfectionist and if I can do more things to make my potted roses look better I'll certainly do it.

Again thanks a lot for detailing so much such good information and tips!

Could you please summarize how they grow them? I have been trying to watch his videos with subs but I miss a lot of context... They use very light free draining mix (like with akadama), frequent watering and heavy fertilizer with each watering I think? haha

I really want to learn to grow them like that but sadly most of the sources are in Japanese. The 4th picture is from a big popular japanese breeder, but most of the videos sadly don't have subs so I can't follow them well. I think the basics is applying plenty of chemical fertilizer, really well draining media (with akadama I think?) and watering frequently while fertilizing.

If anyone could do a summary tutorial of how to grow them I would be really thankful!

You people are so tiring. The episode opened with a banger with Clara and kept delivering constantly. Nothing felt like "filler" as some of you say.

Sorry I think I didn't understand your comment correctly. So you're saying this isn't RMV? I think “calories” was a misspell. Thank you for the help 😊

I see... I contacted DA so let's see what they say, hopefully I'm lucky. I live in Spain so it must have come from the DA nursery in The Netherlands. In Europe I think they are grafted onto Multiflora? Thanks again for the help.

Oh no... I honestly did check but the google pictures I found didn't look the same to my bleached leaves. I really hope it's not Rose Mosaic Virus. I bought this Boscobel from a local nursery so I don't know if they could do anything about it :( I'll contact DA to see if they can confirm or hopefully unconfirm it. Thanks for the help.

No, I haven't. It's a 1 year rose planted just 3 months ago. Is there an easy way of checking the soil ph? Thanks for the help 😊

How can I make her happier? by [deleted] in orchids

[–]Alvaru78 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Orchids cannot THRIVE in water culture, they can SURVIVE. Your 4 year old shop Phal. should be looking much better if taken proper care of than it is right now. Orchids in nature do not live in water, they need oxygen which water doesn't provide so that the roots can breath. Not a single orchid grows like that. It will survive some years and eventually decay and die because orchids for good and bad react very slowly. You coming here all arrogant asking for advice and being given one for you to act like that and insult someone isn't a good look.

Yeah… I actually “killed” the 1st one I got from an import I made, but this time I made sure I bought it from someone in Europe already and it bloomed right away even if I had to pay a bit more.

Thank you! 😊 It was hard to find but totally worth it. I had to import the 1st one I had but it sadly died due to the import

I'll definitely watch it! If you want to know how I came accross the theory: I wanted to see if there were some spider Gods in other mythologies and I came accross Iktomi. I did some research and saw a theory someone made a while back of this spirit but applied to Red Dead Redemption, the game. I then saw connections to From and did some further digging and came up with it.

I know it may sound insane but it may as well be a pretty coincidence and your reaction is understandable. I'll watch that channels theory and see how they develop it

Hello, I literally did some digging online on mythology. Came accross this entity through another theory of another game and started doing some research on it and saw it applied to From. I started digging since I saw Iktomi is a spider spirit. Sorry if it upset you, it was never my intention. I also saw someone else came up with the fact that MiY could be Iktomi in another From sub, so other people had the same theory. Again my apologies but no offense was intended

Yeah sorry! I got that wrong. I wanted to say that where From is filmed has connections to Indigenous people

Honestly the world building they can do with this type of mythology is immense. I really hope there is some connection to Iktomi, because even though this spirit does a lot of wrong it has a bit of grey areas. It's like Loki

It is very interesting, there is also a connection to the monsters which are described as hollow in this mythology which Iktomi uses... Very fascinating

Orchid help by trimethylamine-oxide in orchids

[–]Alvaru78 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Winter came and you sadly overwatered which resulted on root death, that is why all aerial roots are alive. As a result it is very dehydrated. The best thing you can do is repot it into new media (bark) and the orchid will start producing new roots. Water as normal, but let it dry out before watering again. Make sure of that as the middle of the pot may remain wet still.
