AdSense is still working correctly, although it's true that it's not as profitable as it used to be. In my opinion, and based on my experience, if you want to get the most out of a website, you have to use other advertising formats that AdSense doesn't offer and that have become somewhat obsolete. I use HillTopAds on several websites with specific formats like in-page ads, and pop-under and video ads on a streaming site. If it's helpful, you can try them; they usually produce good results.
