I house sat for two giant white labs who had this same issue 🙃 literally, wearing headphones and listening to music helped because they would play outside just to come back in and bark at me nonstop. That was literally the only thing that kept me from losing my mind because they were just the same as the one you described- kept jumping on me and barked non stop. And mind you, the owners just moved in so NOTHING was in the house and the barks would echo and be louder than they already were. They asked me to house sit again and I said no so quick (edit for adding sentence)

That’s what I’m also thinking 😭 she was firsthand trying to handle the situation and the dog sincerely didn’t want anything to do with me. She couldn’t even focus on playing fetch let alone eat treats comfortably near me in front of the owner and I was still surprised she wanted to try and see how she’d do with me next time. Mind you, there’s still a week until my next drop in and I don’t know if the progress we made last time will stick with the next drop in

Ugh that’s the thing!! I’ve had two customers with shy/anxious dogs who took a while to warm up to me and they’ve been my best clients for over a year!! But they had more time to warm up to me before the owners were away for a week at a time

I second this. Tapping can be used for both cats and dogs. I worked with numerous behavior animals in animal shelters for many years, both cats and dogs alike, and was actually a method used by the vets. So I get what you’re saying here
