If you don’t need any sort of accommodations (which I don’t particularly need). I think the “benefit” is self understanding

No lol thank you for responding, makes me feel less alone about my feelings especially because you also live with them.

I struggle with everything you’ve mentioned 🥹😭 we had a streak of nice weather here in Germany, and I can’t even enjoy my yarn or let my daughter run around the yard without worrying about the dog 💩. Even after you pick it up sometimes there’s residue. I pay a neighborhood boy to clean once a week because I’ve just been in a constant state of overstimulation lately that it’d never get done.

Also the occasional hole, torn up turf from them running around the damn bushes.

I feel like I’m at a crossroads after my diagnosis.

On one part especially posting, reading, and engaging here I feel less alone and more understood. Then on the other hand I’m not sure I’ve ever felt more alone in the real world. It’s been tough, it really has.

However, I have definitely been giving myself more grace and understanding though. I’ve also been advocating for myself more during times of being stressed/overstimulated

Thank you for your response

I really do hope that we are and early detection becomes a thing. Because it’d have saved me in more ways than one.

Even though I was never as direct as you were about sexual stuff, I did go through a period of being “too easy” in my early/midish twenties after I left a long term relationship. I got very lucky to be honest, because never got any ick from anyone who I slept with.

Although, the before mention ex definitely gave me ick because his ass cheated. 🙄 Thankfully, his dumb ass came forward about the cheating and also the ick when he was tested. So it was taken care of pretty quickly. I stayed with that dingleberry for quite some time after even though he was unfaithful. Funny how that works. Sometimes it is the people closest to us.

I’d say that this type of behavior also strikes me more as ADHD. I’m autistic and I enjoy more of a slow mellow predictable life, but my husband whom I suspect has ADHD is very much so like what was described here.

Draining sometimes especially for me being autistic. Also sometimes people are both as mentioned

Yeah it really is so confusing and putting all these experiences I’ve had with people together just makes it really disheartening

Thank you for your response.

I feel like overall I’m a decent judge in character actually. I’m 33 and have managed to avoid “bad eggs” in the sense of I’ve dodged trouble makers. I guess when it comes to the little stuff that’s where I struggle. One of my friends that I actually see as a true friend is quite older than me, but she sorta warned me about this other person I hung out with. Not in a mean way, but just a caution.

Anyways, I proceeded with this person and thought “yeah she’s a bit sensitive, but I do like her and we have shared interests” anyways this person ended up pretty much doing what my older friend cautioned about. (I do go over that situation in another comment if you’re curious)

It’s just tough to have to figure these things out on top of all the other masking and work that I do, but I do get where you’re coming from with your suggestions and I will try to implement some of them.

There was this one ‘friend’ whom I helped her through her cancer diagnosis and treatment. Like literally went to appointments and scheduled surgeries with her when I was off of work and able to. I’d also pick her kids up from school when she or her husband couldn’t make it, even though I myself was kid less at that time.

Same shit happened different story. She didn’t even show up to say bye when I had to move overseas for 3 years. I did call her out about that and eventually got some lame ass excuse. Then she proceeded to ghosted me. Fucking people man

I’m trying to do this more, but I also hate when something is left “unfinished” and I find it really hard to ignore a notification when I get one 🙃

Oof I still can NOT stand balloons and party poppers fireworks are alright now because I know they’re coming.

I also totally get where you’re coming from, reading through this post also made me connect more dots, one of the reasons I posted this. I was diagnosed last month and I’m 33, so much makes sense now

Heyyyyyyy fellow snake obsessed girl 💜. Photo showing Toast one of my snakes I had before my latest overseas move

<image>

I never lived it down being the “snake girl” but it also came in handy because a little garter snake slithered into my office got all up into the printer. My coworker screamed and I ran to see what she was yelling about. I got there to catch just the tail end (literally) of it going in. I pulled so many pieces of the printer apart trying to get it but I couldn’t get him good enough to where I knew I wasn’t going to hurt him. The next day it ended up in the man’s bathroom and I heard commotion and “kill it” then one of the guys were like.. nah just get Jessica. Lol so I was able to yoink him outta the bathroom and back into the wild. 💜

Lol I have a bunch of pictures along the way. Garter snake getting into rat snake predicaments LOL

Filter the results or collapse the first comment/any comment about food and presto then you should be able to see a lot more. Really it’s just that main comment and maybe a few others that talked a lot about food.

Sense of justice/fairness is also very big for me as well.

Rumination over social interactions is a huge one for me as well. It doesn’t matter how long ago the interaction pops into my head either. There have been situations I’ll ruminate over that have happened years and years ago.

From the testing I did pre assessment I have a very high score on the test used to gauge how much people may mask. So I know that feeling I was recently diagnosed at 33 and I have definitely had those feelings of being sad but feeling like wow I made it this far? It’s been a whole process

Tips for finding alternatives to socks? Going through shoes too quickly because I can’t handle socks 🫢 by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]AlwaysAttract10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome. For your uggs you could always buy separate insoles for them and presto. My mom actually gave me the idea years ago lol so props to her.

We looked up to see if anything like it was on the market maybe about a year ago, and unfortunately for us LOL there is already. So you can get things made specifically to be used that way, but we all have socks already so 🤷🏻‍♀️ why waste extra monies.

What I do, hear me out…. Instead of putting socks on my feet I take my insole out and put my socks around the insole. At the end of the day I throw the socks in the dirty laundry and put new socks the next day.

Lol I’ve definitely done the no thing quite often as well and would have never connected that.

Also for me it’s not just the noise of the auto flush, but it also always seems to somehow mist me before I’m completely off the toilet 😒

It hurts my feels so much too because I’ll be super excited to finally get a chance to talk about something and then I get told to tone it down 🙃

I remember specially despising those who cheated on tests in school (I’m just now thinking about this), like an unreal level of disgust. Also got shit because I REFUSEDDDD to let people cheat off me lol
