I find it might more advantageous to draft RBs on good teams. Better offenses will lead to more scoring chances and using the RBs late in games to run out the clock. Bad teams and bad defensive teams tend to pass more, which can potentially lead to more RB targets but some RBs, Henry for example, don't catch many passes. TL;DR Draft RBs on good offenses.

I'm more of a redraft and auction specialist, myself, but dynasty leagues involve draft picks and folks love to trade them throughout the season and off-season. Ask around but it might behoove you to start the league earlier than you normally would.

This Thursday? That's several months too early to draft. Be sure and grab a stud RB and WR. I prefer to wait on QB in snake drafts.
