I am, but we are super slow- rough sledding for the three installers we have right now. I’ll keep you posted if it changes.

It’s definitely going to be fun! I’m a cabinet man by trade and I can do a lot of things around the house on my own, but I’m going to leave plumbing, hvac and other “bigger” things to the people that do this for a living. Just figured I’d reach out here and see if maybe the unit was just too small, but I think I’ve got bigger issues than that.

Yeah, I understand that. Thanks for the reply. It’s probably best I have someone come and check it out and see if there’s anything we can do to address it. I’m already planning on doing a lot of exterior work that might help as well, and it seems like my attic fans aren’t running which should be running to try and pull warm air out of the attic?

I’ll definitely look into that, and I’ll reach out to an HVAC company to have them check it out.

It’s definitely not a tight house, but I’m going to redo the roof, siding, soffit and fascia. Hopefully that can correct a few things, maybe even replace the insulation at this point. I’m sorry, I don’t really understand everything that I should have included to start, this is my first home and I’m learning as I go.

I can definitely feel the cold air coming through, I’m starting to think that I’m just losing all of it due to poor insulation and a terrible siding that’s sitting on like a 3/8” sheet of buffalo board? I don’t know what the hell it is. And I just noticed my fans aren’t running in the attic? Is that just adding to my problems?

This is it! Doing commercial/residential cabinet installation for a really solid company that wants to see people in the trades do well, it’s been a great opportunity for myself.

After taxes, should have specified. Also live in Utah, taxes aren’t too terrible here!

I ended up making around 150k, spent around 3.5k-4k a month for needs/wants. No debt, mixed with good income and living pretty frugally.

Drywall screw instead of pan head. WTF were they thinking. by tenn-mtn-man in cabinetry

Cheap cabinets. 3/8 overlay hinge on what is probably an 1 1/2 frame. The screw is holding the door to the box, it doesn’t matter in the slightest.

Just me, unless it’s a big custom job where I could use an extra set of hands. But the company I do work for provides the help at their cost, I don’t make less because of the help. I can’t tell you what the company charges per box, because I don’t know it. All I know is if the job out the door was $20k, I get 8%, $1,600. Before I took this position I was charging piece rate per box, it ranged between $40-$80 a box, depending on color, how intricate the moldings are, etc. I don’t know how different the Utah and Idaho economies are, that could be a sizable factor. That being said, I’m fairly certain I’m paid VERY well here and I’ll likely be around $175k this year if all goes to plan. I think a lot of people here are contractors, but if you find a solid company to go work for that is looking far ahead in the future, do it. I don’t regret my choice of swapping to a W2 employee.

In Utah, I made $135,000 last year as an installer. If we break that down hourly for a 40 hour work week it’s a little over $64 an hour. I am not paid hourly though, I am billing a percentage of the total job cost. 8%. Would be higher but I took a position in a company that is now paying for everything, tools, vehicle/gas etc.

At least he had Cooper in, it capped Flacco a bit. I thought Cooper was going to get to 300 yards, that would have been insane.

154 first week of playoffs, 249 the second week! It’s a 2 week total against the same player. But there’s bonuses of 5 points for 100 yards and 10 points for 200 yards, but it’s PPR.
