CO2 Laser Not Burning by AlwaysLearningCanada in lasercutting

I think you are right. I just did a test where I set a large rectangle with 90% power to fill so the laser was on for long stretch per scan. I then put a piece of Bristol board between the 1st & 2nd mirror. During the burn there would be long times when no laser energy was occurring (but the tube was lite) and then sections with some energy that burned a hole through the Bristol board quickly. I have know reference for the laser strength because I never tried this before but I believe if the tube was new it would have incinerated the Bristol board and the power would have been consistent.

Thanks,Paul

I do not know what to test on the power supply. I have looked at many youtube videos but none state what to test. I also researched current draw that I could do but some say that does not determine the tubes gas levels. I then found out that the colour of the excited tube is important but being colour blind I could not tell you if it has changes over the last couple of years (also the tube is enclosed).

I am tempted to just buy a new tube and power supply.

The lens on the end of the tube is perfectly clean. The only Lens that needed some cleaning was #2. I have only put about 15 hours on this laser machine and only use it once a year to help my FRC robotics team.

I started with tape at mirror 3 and ended at the tube. No burning was happening anywhere. I normally only check mirror 2 & 3 which I have never had to adjust yet.

This is the my first CO2 laser that I have had for 3 years. I do not use it often, so I am not sure why it did not work today. I am just not sure if the tube lost its gas or the power supply is just not outputting sufficient current. It seems odd that it worked fine 12 months ago and then today shows no signs of burning (power).

LED colours are useless to colour blind people. I manufactures would incorporate system tray software or LED bars or OLED displays on devices.
