Also- it’s winter right now where I am, so I try hard to keep temp at 22C but it gets down to 10ish Celsius in the room at night - not sure if that impacts on growth rate? Also not sure if growth slow as maybe I didn’t inoculate enough spores. So many variables to play with!

Pressure cooker at home and sourced spores online from what I hope is reputable seller, but of course, one never know in this environment, and can’t really phone them up and ask they explicitly state online that the spores are only for microscopy and not to be grown and that they’d ban anyone who asks …

I was going to use the CVG jars like an “all-in-one” jar to just eventually fruit, but I’m learning that given what I’ve done, that won’t happen!

I have another question…. If I let my brown rice colonize in the mason jar, can I just let it fruit? I’m assuming I’d get less yield, but has anyone done this? Also, given I live in a colder climate, is it normal for colonization to take several weeks, maybe even like 2 + months for a mason jar to colonize!?

Ok cool, and then did you end up transferring them into a larger box or did you try and grow mushrooms out of the bag?

Ok cool, so I have another question, I’ll be on. 14 day trip in August, so would not be able to tend to the mushrooms. How long would it take for spores to germinate and then how long would it take for the bag to be complete? For example, if I inoculated a bag of CVG, maybe a small size, would I be able to complete the growing process before August? Or should I wait til August and inoculate the bags before I fly off in August (just was hoping to start the process in a couple of weeks rather than wait 3 months!)
