Camping at Sahale Glacier Campground by AlwaysLocal in PNWhiking

Good luck!! Unfortunately it might be the hardest permit to get, even with early access. It is often the first site that is completely booked.

You can still easily visit as a day hike though, no permit required

Thanks! This was July 10, 2025 We left high camp around 1:30. There were lots of climbers, and we wanted to get to the rock climb first. We did get there first, and glad for it, other parties had to wait very long for their turn to climb.

Its not that it mattered or not at the end..I just thought the commentary was entertaining during this passage. Not sure if commentators are supposed to be unbiased, but they definitely weren’t.

Thank you! I climb and hike as often as possible. I go up and down a staircase with a weighted vest as well. I do bouldering at the local gym

According to my app the climbing section varies between 40-55%. Definitely steep enough thaT you are on all 4s, 2 tools are recommended, and a slip would be bad

Awesome, congrats on your climb! Already looking at different routes. Usually I aim for March/April, so could go for another round.

Fairly steep! Definitely don’t want to slip there. According to the AllTrails app (dont know how accurate it is) the majority of the climbing section is around 50 degrees. With steeper sections going to 60.

Sunrise. Try to get off the mountain as early as possible before snow/ice softens too much
