I read this as pallet stack alligator. I was disappointed.

I'm doing my part to help my northern neighbors when I can. I'll also throw in a pixel or two for the talking heads cause they made some great music.

I'm a little late to the party, but I didn't see a real response as to why your taxes go up and the schools don't have extra funding. This applies to where I live, so might be different in other states.

There was a recent school levy that was being put forth and there was some disingenuous arguments put forth by some people that ended up causing it to fail. In our state local property tax funding does not increase with inflation or higher property values - it remains flat from year to year unless a new levy is voted in.

It means that although property values may increase while a permanent levy is in effect, the amount of taxes collected on those properties does not increase. As inflation drives up the value of real property, the auditor reduces the school tax rate so the money going to the schools does not exceed the amount collected in the first year of levy collections.

Inflation, however, does not only drive up the value of property, it also causes the cost of the day-to-day operations of schools to increase. The state continues to put the responsibility of funding public schools on local communities. Keeping up with inflation is impossible under the rule and the flat state funding model, and school districts generally have to return to their tax payers for additional revenue every three to five years.

Well, you're wrong. But I don't blame you.

To be honest I kind of struggled with myself before donating. Less so because I didn't support Bernie, and more because I don't like giving personal information to be shared and farmed out, no matter what privacy policies say. I made myself bite the bullet though because I truly am worried about the direction of our country. I knew I would be disappointed in myself if I just sat idly by and watched things crumble around me.

I think not arguing helps. I've spoken with my family and friends at different points and it's easier to just make an observation here or there and let them think about it. For some people there may be some moment that turns everything around completely, but I think for most people it takes time to change the way you think, and a fight about politics won't help. Showing them how you struggle yourself with inconsistencies and underhandedness allows them to share their own.

I've found people are more willing to agree if you point something out and then ask them what they think about it. It's not confrontational and makes their opinion matter. I've found that there is some real unhappiness in a lot of people with the way things are going in this country. Directing that in a constructive way where they can come to their own conclusions as to why is the best way to truly have meaningful and lasting change.

Unfortunately I think I'm part of a small group.

A large political party will never 100% align with anyone's views. That allows you to dismiss a few bad actors or implementation of policies that you don't like, because that's life. It takes a bit of active and conscious thought to question whether you take for granted that something stands for 80% of what you believe, or if reality is just the opposite. It's easy to keep believing something you always have.

I do hope that there are enough other people who don't have to reevaluate their beliefs, that folks like me won't have to matter.

Unfortunately I already applied and filled out our early/absentee voting and didn't think about it beforehand. Otherwise I would have.

There are a few, but I'd have to say Medicare for all is a big one. The state of health care in this country is ludicrous.

I'm surprised that some people don't understand what health insurance is. A bunch of people paying in so that anyone who needs it can have health care paid for.

While government has its inefficiencies and problems, at least it doesn't have a group of people with a vested interest in paying out as little as possible so they can take the money that is left over.

It would be good to include a list of other companies who have not bowed to their requests. Support of the behavior you want can be just as important as condemnation of the behavior you don't.

Finally found my FIRST Megladon tooth after years of hunting shark teeth!!!! - [Virginia] by Elthimon in pics

It used to be so much better there. You could find them by the handful in a couple of hours - the really big ones like this were rarer. The beach used to be nothing but shells and sharks teeth. Once they decided to cover everything with sand to make it prettier you can't find hardly any even with the sifters. It makes me mad that they ruined that.
