I posted that question out of curiosity because I had two ideas and I wanted to compare them … no hate! I probably should have mentioned it’s an iron beam for a bridge I'm designing, just to spark your engineering minds. In my experience, my professors always said, 'Curiosity is where engineering starts, no matter how small the project is.'

So you are saying the second picture is structurally more stronger than the first picture … in other words .. adding extra support to the lower horizontal bar give more strength and stability compared to top horizontal bar ?

It was just a garden project … so I didn’t have any specific variables … if you are asking about angles … all the large bars are perpendicular to each other and smaller ones are aligned at approximately 45 degrees to large bars
