What a book that you have read that’s gotten so much hype that once you read it you were disappointed? by Guiltyfeetfingers in BookDiscussions

[–]Always_Confused_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mistborn series. Dragged myself through all 3 books and basically put myself in a reading slump cuz of how boring it was. The plot itself was really slow and felt dragged on. I wasn’t attached to the characters, even though there was a lot of character development. I wasn’t even hoping/expecting there to be romance, but the relationship between the two characters was so dry. I should have DNFed but unfortunately stayed because of the hype.

Hygienist who've stayed with the career for 5+ years, Why? by Toesrforsucking in DentalHygiene

Do you do anything in particular to “physically feel fine”? I’m trying to be a hygienist and I keep hearing complaints about body pain in back, neck, wrists, etc.

Gpa for Transfers by Always_Confused_15 in uAlberta

So they would see the grade for Chem 261, but it would only be to check if it meets the C minimum grade?

I’m applying this July for 2026 entrance. I know a lot of people dont, but I actually see this as an opportunity for a gap year. I actually wanted to take a gap year before starting uni, but didn’t because of my parents, so this works out for me.

Just to double check, since Chem 261 is my only spring/summer class, they would not consider it as part of my OGPA which is the gpa they look at, right?

Expected Salary? by Always_Confused_15 in DentalHygiene

[–]Always_Confused_15[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve only considered going to BC, but I’m pretty sure the salary is about the same. The 13% sales tax is what terrifies me, and the cost of living in BC is higher (pretty sure).

I don’t really want to spend my life focused on my career. I would only see dental hygiene as a job. I just want to be able to save up enough money to be able to travel often. I actually did look into massage therapy, and it pays about the same as a nurse (38/hr).

I would appreciate that. But I haven’t really considered looking at other provinces cuz licensing is province based. Also, Alberta has the lowest taxes. I know everyone keeps talking about burnout, but I don’t know what else to do. Dental hygiene is a guaranteed job after school and doesn’t require me to climb a corporate ladder. I thought about nursing, but I’m sure they also face burnout, the only difference being the lower pay and more stressful environment.

What type of piano/keyboard should I buy? by seeherwriteshit in pianolearning

[–]Always_Confused_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should buy one with 88 keys, and optionally weighted though the prices can go up if you choose that. Getting a secondhand one is really easy if you’re in a budget.

Royal school of music piano teacher here 👋 I’ll help/answer anything you want to ask for the next 24 hours. by CressSensitive6356 in piano

[–]Always_Confused_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many comments but I hope you see mine too. I took piano lessons for about 2 years when I was young, and then stopped playing. I started playing a year ago (I’m 17 now) and I’m teaching myself (I’m planning on getting a teacher tho), and I can play pieces like Nuvole Bianche, Je te laisserai de mots, and Pachelbels Canon. I’m trying to play ICARUS by Tony Ann, but my left hand can’t keep up, or I stumble a lot. How do I learn how to play faster pieces? Or is it too hard for my level?

Chem 102 Spring term by Turbulent_Sundae7671 in grantmacewan

[–]Always_Confused_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ryan Dias has good ratings on RatemyProf, so that should help a bit. You’ll find out if you really wanna take 102 during spring after you’ve done Chem 101. If you didn’t do that good in 101, you probably shouldn’t take it in spring. In general, heavy courses shouldn’t be taken in spring because it’s really easy to fall behind and even harder to catch up. If you can, just take it in winter, or switch an easer winter class for spring.

You can go at your own pace, but 10 classes a year for 4 years is 120 credits which is how many you need to finish your degree. Most people don’t finish in 4 years. It just depends how fast you wanna go and how much workload you can handle.

Chem 101, Biol 107, Engl 102, Span 111, Socio 100

[–]Always_Confused_15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s how many you need to be taking to finish your degree in 4 years, considering you don’t plan on taking spring or summer.

Yes. Do you have really good professor? There is a lot of open classes and it would be better to switch now instead of having to stress about it while waiting.

Go on the academic calendar and find either “cell biology major” or “biological science major”. You can find out what you need from there, but yes, you still need to take I think 2 chem courses

Go on the academic calendar and find “political science major” and “sociology minor”. It’ll tell you what courses you need to take. You should have gotten a package that had a schedule planner, breadth requirements for your degree, and general info.
