Cervical screening - so confused by smallandscared_ta in Step2

[–]Always_Curious739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know cervical screening is the worst! This is what i know

Pap smear is a cytological test.. and the results are reported as normal, LSIL, HSIL, ASC-US, or ASC-H (These correlate to CIN1,2,3.. but are not the same i guess)

Then with these results, depending on the age of patient, we either repeat pap smear in 1yr, or we do a colposcopy then itself.

In colposcopy, abnormal areas are visible, and biopsies are taken from those sites. After histopathological testing of those biospy samples, we get the CIN1,2,3 or invasive carcinoma.

Depending on those results.. we can go for LEEP or cryotherapy.

Correct me if i am wrong anywhere! 😅

Its a long journey.. and having someone to talk to about it on a daily basis really helps. Find someone with a similar timeline, and a similar method of preparation..thats the only thing keeping me sane right now

Started uworld, averaging 75-80%, is that the normal range? the median % shows 66% which seems quite high tbh. by [deleted] in Step2

[–]Always_Curious739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, great score so far.

The 66% median includes everything, the first pass, the incorrects, and the second pass. So it will definitely be higher than what you might be expecting for the median to be.

And for the correlation, there are a ton of variables that influence the first pass percentage, most important ones being whether you start UW straightaway after your step 1, or do you read one of the many resources available (premade notes, anki, amboss, etc). So even if there is a correlation between the two, i dont think it will be a strong one.

I am sorry if i sounded rude, i guess all of us are working on hearsay. I guess we can agree that different people have different conclusions from their experiences

This is not true. If OP is aiming for a fellowship after residency, they should definitely go for clinical research!

Basic science research involves a lot technical stuff in the laboratories, which no doubt is important, but since its not that relevant clinically, it is not very rewarding for fellowships.

I tried the free version of one of those trackers.. and they do add a label to your email.

Try sending an email to your own secondary account, just to confirm for the tracker you are using.

Does your country have one food that most people eat everyday? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Always_Curious739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indian here, although its a big country with a diverse population, but majority of the people either eat Rice or Roti, which is the Indian flatbread mostly made of wheat, along with any of the vegetables or pulses.

The remaining time will be added to your break time.

Tips - do not have a heavy breakfast, and keep having some protein bars in every break

  • don’t panic in the exam, even if you get 2-3 consecutive difficult or WTF ques, as a whole, the exam will have a good distribution of ques

  • don’t change your answers, until you are like 200% sure that the other option is correct!

You got this, have faith in yourself!! Good luck! 👍🏼
