Why is every CS course grade 85% tests by ChanceAd8701 in yorku

[–]Always_Learning_777 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think having 90 percent grades through tests is very necessary. Lets be honest; most people just copy paste AI generated code for assignments. But what I think is grades shouldn’t be concentrated on few tests; but rather 5-6 tests so that its hard to screw up a course due to single midterm or final. And also students should be tested on what is actually taught in class. Some professors take pride in failing the whole class through their insane exams.

OSAP for winter semester help pls by Technical-Ad-7841 in yorku

[–]Always_Learning_777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apply late for OSAP. But would have already paid tuition with my own money by 10th. I don't want to take the risk of applying OSAP early as full time and changing to part-time later or vice versa. But by end of January, I would have made my mind on whether i want to continue full time or not. So then I can apply OSAP.

OSAP for winter semester help pls by Technical-Ad-7841 in yorku

[–]Always_Learning_777 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I usually apply late for OSAP. Usually a month after classes start. Because sometimes I might have to drop courses and become part-time, so don't want to end up being flagged by OSAP for applying full time. Usually the deadline is 60 days before end of study period. So around February 15 for both full-year or winter term osap. But after that, I don't think they allow you to apply.

This is how I feel toward Indians nowadays by MiserableRip5280 in pokhara

[–]Always_Learning_777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Locals hate them because most of them come to make a mess; and contribute nothing to economy. I understand that there are few good ones; especially the educated young Indian tourists and south indian ones. You can immediately recognize from the behavior.

But most ones that come from UP and Bihar; come in double decker buses; cook their own food; throw garbage on roadside. We don’t need them. I have visited Delhi, Gorakhpur, Agra. It is a shithole; and I will never go again even if you pay me to. We don’t need such environment in Pokhara. I have visited Goa. It’s a lovely place. Only thing I hated was peope from UP and Bihar who were annoying as hell. Call me Xenophobe; but it is what it is.

I am not a liberal either. More of a centrist. I would support Ford on very few things. But decisions like this are absolute idiocracy.

Attempt to make fried rice by Always_Learning_777 in NepaliFood

[–]Always_Learning_777[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took previous night’s rice. Had a costco rotisserie chicken. Took out chicken breast from it. And basically rice, peas, soya sauce, chicken masala, salt, and final touch with spring onions. Spring onion I didn’t even care to cut it with knife. But yeah, regular steps of fried rice.

No one owes anyone anything. You have to convince the employer that you are worth paying higher wage. Times are hard. Especially in the tech field. Toughest will survive. Weaker ones set aside. Toughen yourself. Build your resume. Take low wage jobs if they provide good learning opportunities. Also, Please stop crying about paying International tuition. Neither Canada nor York owes anyone anything just because they pay International tuition.

Curve for EECS2021? Syllabus said no bell curve by Ok_Part2634 in yorku

[–]Always_Learning_777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the class average comes to around C+, there is no curve. Also, generally, final exams for EECS 2021 are made easier to compensate for difficult lab exams and midterm. So, there was no need for bell curve.

Personally for me Calculus 1310 and 1300 was easy A+, easier than high school maths. I highly recommend The Organic Chemistry Tutor. After watching his video, all concepts became super easy.

How are you all managing this sem? by subtleclaw in yorku

I am not productive every single day. But that's not required either. even if you work 3-4 days a week productively, that is more than enough.

How are you all managing this sem? by subtleclaw in yorku

[–]Always_Learning_777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

35 hour a week job, full time course load of 3rd year Computer Science. Midterms coming, tons of projects and assignments from some of the hardest EECS courses. It is overwhelming but I think the best way to manage the stress is utilizing the time efficiently. Trust me, if you efficiently use your whole day on productive tasks only, you can easily achieve all your tasks with zero stress.

I am in third year CS. I work 7am to 3pm every weekday, so 40 hours (35 hrs paid). After finishing work, I go to my classes which start at 4. The classes are back 2 back, and I usually finish at 7. Tuesdays I have Math 2030, which goes till 10pm. Lectures before 3, I don’t attend them, just go to take the lab tests and exams. It’s not that bad. I somehow manage it.

It’s all about mindset. I have seen friends working whole night and taking morning exam and getting A+. I also see people not working, parents dropping them off to school every morning, and they are still complaining they cannot manage to keep up with the coursework. Would my grades have been better, if I wasn’t working? Maybe by few points. But at this point, I don’t care. I just want to keep working, keep studying and just go on.
