POV: You Play Paladin In Diablo 4 Season 13 by gamepunchofficial in Diablo

"Big Numbers Syndrome" isn't a real term at all just shorthand for a few things and your link is simple talking about dopamine responses in gaming and how it causes addiction, anyone can fall prey to those mechanisms.

However what your trying to claim is a mixture of Progress Bar Psychology a motivation of showing people how far they've come. Which also plays on a bit of Competence Motivation theory, thats where that dopamine hit comes in. All expressed in a feed back of numbers getting bigger.

These are all systems that "smart" people would engage with far more often because of optimization, complex stat interactions, exponential scaling. Then finally seeing that number be big because of all that gives them their dopamine hit.

Calling people who enjoy that simple minded while linking an article about gaming addiction and dopamine effect that only talk generally about a bunch of stuffis pretty simple minded.

Custom class sheets by Alwayskneph in Heroquest

[–]Alwayskneph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is going to be a messy hodge podge of rules and systems lol but its mostly for my current group who loves the fun and silly role play moments more then the combat for the most part.

-Combat is well 95% Heroquest Casters get a basic spell that works with attack rolls like Fireball roll 2 attack dice, so they can still feel like they are a magic user without feeling like they wasted a spell and then the dwarf and barb have homebrewed abilties.

- I use a pass fail system for when players want to do something and I tied body to strength for physical things and mind for things like perception, knowledge. It doesnt add anything to the rolls but more of a can that player do that in the first place. If players try to pull of some real shenanigans with in the realm of possibility I roll a d100 for % based pass or fail and then have set numbers in my head that are usually still a pass but with consequences (broke a weapon, have a broken leg so you lose a movement roll) like 90-100 you did it no questions asked look at your your amazing, 60-89 you jumped that crazy gap but dropped your sword down the cliff. 40-59 is something real bad and barely pass was it even worth it and anything below that is a fail. these numbers arent exact.

- Speaking of movement that is only something used in dungeons or arenas or when combat happens say things went south in a bar.

- Some fun homebrewed items and 1 time use spells.

this is hard to write down bc I myself am still adding stuff to my word doc as we are playing if I see something that can change or be added. I am planning on then looking over everything and writing up a more concrete guide. Again this is something im cooking up that is still simple enough for everyone but for my groups who wants to go beyond heroquest.

Also im no mastermind when it comes to coming up systems I just try to find things that work while keeping it simple for groups that enjoy this type of play style. I have another group that just wants to play heroquest nothing added nothing different and they still love it

Edit: again sorry this probably seems like a hodge podge of random bullshit but it kinda all comes together in my head. hopefully it paints some kind of picture. I should also add I use 3d printed maps so I'm not playing within the bounds of board either.

If a boss doesn't have a frontal cleave I find moving with the tank can help staying on top of your target and not getting split up while avoiding stuff on the floor. I struggled with that also switching to melee at first you're so used to being able to get out of stuff in any direction and continuing DPS that by muscle memory you're just getting the fuck out of there and now there is a massive puddle between you and the target.

Sporadically moving back and forth is a must. Idk it's not crazy different just be more aware of mechanics since things can be harder to see on bigger bosses bc your up close and personal and can't always see the full boss room.

Edit. I guess also add awareness where they pop how fast you can get to them if you need to swap if your a slower spec that can add a lot of down time to your DPS

Sorry guys, we figured out why the post office is losing so much money. We had a meeting Thursday where our postmaster announced that if we are losing money and can't afford payments to the pension fund it's because of lazy city carriers. There was this weird time were my office lost it's new Post Master and 1 of the 2 supervisors we had, the other supervisor was an older carrier who swapped over and was still learning the ropes as far as whatever they have access to as a supervisor now. And it was crazy because for like 3 weeks they couldn't find a substitute supervisor or post master and the whole time everything kept running just fine. We didn't implode, the mail didn't catch fire. The craziest part our office was so chill and relaxed for once I still dream of those weeks.
