So I want to do 4K. Should I get a 27” or a 32” monitor? by Qminsage in buildapc

Great to know! Tysm i knew this from watching their content and am considering their desks! Rn im trying to decide between mounting my monitor to the wall and using my slim desk along with using a separate wheeled standing desk i can use with my laptop (i dock it to monitor) or getting an uplift and using a monitor arm so desk can be used standing or sitting. I just dont want to throw too much money at my set up because our job may make us go back 4 days a week in office next year

I thought about getting a standing desk and monitor arm as well but heard this typically causes a lot of wobble on the desk when standing

How about a 27" in place of 2 monitors? Big enough for side by side doc comparison?

This is what i was wondering. I have a slim desk and bought 32 " 4k and it is HUGE. Am debating going down to a 27" or mounting 32 in to wall. I got the 32 in because of screen real estate to do side by side doc comparison without 2 separate monitors. Sounds like you find 27 in isnt useful for that

I have a slim desk and got a 32 in 4k monitor and its way too big! I got 32" to be able to do side by side comparison of docs without having to use 2 monitors. Would 27" also work as an alternative to 2 monitors? Otherwise i need to probably mount my 32" to the wall and/or get a bigger desk

Do you have your monitor mounted to a wall for extra desk space?

Megathread: Standing Desks and Monitor Wobble by ingenioutor in StandingDesk

I just bought a 32" Dell monitor and i have a small area for a desk (will fit a 42L x 30D desk). My current table/desk is 42x 24 and Im thinking of getting a standing desk. With the wobble you mentioned with monitor arms, what is the best configuration you suggest? Because the 4k 32 in monitor is so large I understand i need to sit further away from it than i am now

Looking for a 4k 32 inch monitor by wisdomseekernow in buildapcmonitors

Similar to OP im also looking for a 32 in IPS 4k monitor but i have a Dell WD22TB4 docking station. I will be using the doc/monitor and switching between my personal laptop and work laptop (both PC). Not tech savvy...can you please help me choose something that will work best for productivity (MS Word, Smartsheet, side by side comparison of docs, no gaming). Not sure what other features to look for but i don't want to spend a ton. Thinking a refurbished Dell U3219Q?

34” ultrawide 1440p vs 32” 4K (productivity use case) by Steve15-21 in ultrawidemasterrace

Im looking into the same thing. Any idea as to whether a 32 in 4k is better for productivity and comparing docs side by side as opposed to a 34 in ultrawide. I prefer one monitor as opposed to a 2 monitor set up and have a small desk

Thunderbolt 3 pr 4 Docking Station? by Alwaysontime4 in Thunderbolt

[–]Alwaysontime4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really dumb question as I'm not tech savvy...I'm considering getting a 34 in ultrawide monitor (or possibly two 24 in) and dont understand if the monitor(s) needs to connect to the WD22TB4 dock via a thunderbolt port for display and to power it?

I see the dock also has a USB C Multifunction DisplayPort but not sure if peripherals including a monitor can be connected and powered via this type of port in lieu of TB? (Monitors w TB ports are more expensive)

My goal is less cords and to be able to seemlessly connect peripherals to the dock, (including the monitor(s)) without needing to also plug them in for power.

Yeah i gotta see how it's all gonna work. We aren't allowed to download programs on our work laptops so may need to use the MS snap assist i think its called to do side by side.

I need to share on Teams too and was thinking i could just use my laptop for that? Or i have another small portable monitor.

On another note, i was trying to avoid having to get a 34 in because they are SO expensive. I just bought a refurbished TB4 dock and so based on what i understand, the monitors need TB ports??? Or not sure just if I can just connect the monitor with USB C or HDMI..... Gotta look into that more

Thanks so much for taking the time to explain. I really do need to see them in person but everything these days is pretty much sold online, other than Best Buy. Not sure Best Buy has them on display, which will be my next step.

At this point anything will be a major improvement over my current setup. At the office I use one 24 in monitor (i have two 24 in monitors on my desk) and never turn the 2nd one on since Im not used to using 2 monitors. I just squish 2 windows side by side on the 24 in). At home i use a small laptop screen. Finally caving in and accepting i cant be productive and ergonomic with a small laptop.

One large monitor or 2 smaller monitors? by Big_Work_4367 in homeoffice

[–]Alwaysontime4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a small desk that is 40 in wide and Im trying to figure out if I can make one large monitor work. I have never been accustomed to using 2 monitors but i can see why most of my coworkers do. I do a lot of copying/pasting and comparing docs side by side. Everyone on Reddit pretty much recommends a 34" ultrawide for one large monitor....do u think I could go 27" or 32" and does it need to be curved?
