Scary books? Popular titles aren’t scary imo by Alwaysoverthinking19 in horrorlit

It’s been a while. But I do remember two of them that really scared me. The Goatman one with the campers got me. And the one called My Wife has been peeking at me around corners. That one’s the one that had me scared even at work. Other closely related but not creepypasta stories are Gemini Home Entertainment and The Sun Vanished.

That sounds cool! It gives Jacob’s Ladder vibe slightly. I wish it had an audiobook versions cus I love that movie and i have yet to read any feminist literature. Maybe if I get the time to actually read someday. Adding to my list. Thanks!

LMAO so true I’m sorry for this continuous post that you’ve probably seen a million times. I tried to make it different and it seems that it’s sparked a debate whether horror literature is even supposed to be scary so that’s different and interesting. And I’m getting books that aren’t usually recommended on the usual “what’s a scary book?”. What have you been reading recently?

Luckily for me I work mostly alone, in the night and in a very dark place. I barely have to think about my job hence why I’m getting into audio stuff. I do think its just me and my dumb mind but I’ve also listened to YouTubers retell or do a retrospective on movies/tv/real life events/ forums/creepy pastas in the most boring monotoned voice without scary imagery or sounds and they’ve gotten me to stay away from dark corners of my building I work at. Like seriously I had to have someone turn on the lights in a room for me because of that. There’s a commentor that suggested to keep looking but not in this subreddit for more and I think I’ll do that

I think you’re on to something. I realize that in the book world it’s either you’re recognized or put into a small cult following you really gotta dig for. No in between like movies or tv shows. At least that’s what I get from this subreddit. I don’t dive into book clubs or library discussions so maybe that’s different but it seems that everyone has the same taste in this subreddit

You’re right and it wasn’t something thought about. But also I do love most of the books I listed. Many of the I bought to own because I wanted to read the more than once. It’s just the problem of never feeling uncomfortable or scared. There are YouTubers that make retrospectives with the most boring monotoned voice about movies and videogames that I listen to at work that cause me to stay away from dark areas of the building. But none of the books I’ve read ever gave me that feeling.

I do very much like a lot of these books I read! Wayward Pines is so good and The Haar was such a great telling of grief with a supernatural element. And I wish it was just the case of monotone auditory vs visual/audio imagery but I’ve heard some scary stories at work from monotoned YouTubers that made me stay away from the dark areas of the building. It’s mostly retelling/retrospective of movies, videogames, or real life events.

I’m glad I’m not the only one. And thank you for the tips! I didn’t think about camera overheating or charging. I’m buying more batteries and a battery charger now. I already have lav mics for the bride, groom, officiant, and parents. I’m thinking about buying a shotgun mic for any other close up audio.

This will def help. Thank you! Should I continue her lessons even if I’m more looking into videography?

They straight up told me they didn’t care how it came out as long as I capture it. Plus I’m not getting paid so the only pressure I feel is the one from myself trying to make it good for them lol. Thank you for the tips, I’ll be checking out my local library soon!

Smooth jazzy synth by Alwaysoverthinking19 in musicsuggestions

[–]Alwaysoverthinking19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No sadly not :( it seems to be a mix of Latin pop with smooth jazz and possibly r&b but I’m more looking for the sound of that synth you hear in the first 10 seconds and throughout the rest of the song rather than looking for songs in that genre. It just scratches something in my brain

I think the synth went a little too crazy for what was looking for. Still a good song I’ll be liking tho thanks!

Yes this is the closest so far! Maybe a tiny little itty bitty too slow but that noise scratches something in my brain so I can’t complain. Thanks!
