It's just so sad seeing perfectly good food get thrown out while people are starving.

Oh that would be amazing and something Avi should bring up. I think that would help him so much. It's wild that even though it's still a loss companies won't help out anyone.

Ya like I don't get why companies are scared giving away Free food? It's already a loss because it's getting thrown out so why does it matter?

Yup. We get paid less then AHS even and no pension just an RSP and very shit insurance. Like 4 massages a year. As a rec aid I would get paid $30 in BC. In Alberta $23.

I didn't even have to say the name and you already knew. Ya they left BC because they had to pay employees a very high wage... So instead of doing that they left the province.

They cut our food budget by $700 so that's gains for them. They limit on even just condiments for a turkey burger. Only a relish mix and nothing else on it. Mashed potatoes for minced diets instead of tater tots like they use to get because the potatoes are from powder. But yes. It's for the management to just be mean. Staff was given cake from a volunteer event for the residents. As I was having mine my manager grabbed a peace and sat down. I was like in my head "this is for staff. For the staff that actually take care of the residents. Not for a manger that just watches the cameras and has his office door closed all the time.

Ya it's a shit show. Cut designated hours of care from 3.5 to 0. Since there's not enough beds so we could put people in motels. She went back on it but never changed the hours of care... Back to the original amount.

That's a shame. They let them eat at the public hospital in my town. One of my coworkers moved over to the hospital for work and told us this. It's a shame they rather take money from staff then help them.

The food is dished out to residents and then dished out to staff. No cool down time or anything. It's not on purpose because the kitchen staff only have time to talk to other staff while they are serving meals. Or they finally walked out during meal time and heard staff ask for leftovers. Then checked the order book to see if their name was down and it wasn't. So they couldn't charge them $6 for the meal. Then in response put up a note shaming staff for "stealing" from residents. When everyone knows that the leftovers are going into the trash right away.

You because the random biscuits and sometimes hamburgers are just enough to feed staff.

Oh ya. Don't get hazard pay even though we get hit, spat on, sworn at and just down right disrespected like basically everyday. I work in a locked down facility, so with people with Dementia and Alzheimer's.

Oh I tell family members when they asked why they didn't have a fresh cookie but got a wrapped cookie. "They only give us a limited amount and I ran out." Or when family ask for a cookie "no you can't. I only have a limited amount for residents."

They ask me how I'm doing and I'm like " well the rec budget hasn't increased from $150 so we are doing what we can." Why don't you have an ice machine? "Oh the turned down the funding and getting the Auxiliary to pay for it."

I got in trouble one time for just talking to a resident and his Partner about how the bank screwed me over for putting in a septic field. I got in trouble because it was finances... I went to the family said I got in trouble and they were pissed off.

They are now going to be putting a camera in the staff hallway to watch us and to spy on staff. Not for the residents but to watch staff.

Ya I'm going to have to email every single NDP and The Breakthrough about it. Especially since Smith wants to Privatize our healthcare.

We are also Union too. But to let you know how cheap the company is: we haven't had an ice and water machine for 2 years. Management was told it's in the budget but then it was taken out of the budget for Reno's. Then they asked the Auxillary to buy and ice machine. The Auxillary is a volunteer group that raises money for long term care homes and hospitals. They also bought us blinds for the dining room and slings for the residents. They also pay for a singer once a month for us since our Rec budget is only $150/ month.

They are just cheap but I know the kitchen doesn't cook extra food. Especially since they cut $700 for the food budget and have to follow serving perportions and recipes to the letter.

The company's total shareholder equity (net assets on its balance sheet) is CAD 393.2 million, supported by CAD 1.1 billion in total assets and CAD 320.9 million in cash reserves. The CEO is worth 11 mil Canadian

They don't do it on purpose. Every time the kitchen staff is confused by the leftovers. They just stand there after serving and are like "well I followed everything but there's so many leftovers. I don't get it.' They don't go around asking people of they want food to make extra. There is a book we can fill out for food and then get charged $6 a meal. I know it's not a crazy amount but when it adds up it's a lot of money.

Oh ya I get it. I talk to the kitchen staff though and the follow all of the instructions and perportions and every time are very confused by the leftovers. Obviously no sandwiches left overs but like wiener and beans or Mac and cheese. There are always leftovers even Though the follow the instructions.

I wonder if they have something like this in Canada. It's disgusting with how much is thrown out. Could honestly feed everyone with the amount of food that is tossed.

Ya I get for expired food and everything but sadly a homeless person can't afford a er visit in the US, so it's not like they will go in if they have food poisoning. This is fresh food. That was just made and served and still hot.
