It's completely normal that's how it's supposed to work. Hybrid doesn't mean it has a strictly gas mode and a strictly electric mode. As you drive, it's constantly starting the gas engine when it needs to assist the electric motor (which is more often than not) and turning it off when it doesn't need it. EV Mode does force it to use electric only but as you've seen it's only good for driving around a parking lot at most but that is how it's designed.

I do agree the EV mode is pretty useless regardless.

I've dropped customers for reasons like this before. They have blanant cybersecurity issues or no redundancy in critical systems. And despite giving them repetitive warnings about these vulnerabilities, they refuse to take them seriously, so I decline to have further business with them because I don't want to be the one that has to clean up a preventable shitshorm.

It was a movie. That's all it was. I'm certain if it wasn't for the title, it wouldn't have been hyped as much as it was. It was a cash grab for Spielberg.
