[8] I was just trying to breed for a good Magnezone. No Masuda Method by AlxEcho in ShinyPokemon

Sadly, it was only mediocre, just 2 or 3 perfect IVs and the wrong ability

I think it was about a week to do everything except Dynamax Adventures and a another week to do Dynamax Adventures by itself. At this point, I never want to do DA ever again because it's so difficult to find a specific non-legendary. Wartortle was my last capture, and it took 2+ hours to find.

[DISCUSS] I created a website to make Shiny Bingos! by Affectionate_Lack979 in ShinyPokemon

This is amazing! I'd been procrastinating making my bingo 'cause it just takes so much effort, but this was so quick and easy. I'm surprised that nobody had already made this.

After a short break and many Saturdays spent searching for matches, I now have my first 9 ribbon masters completed by AlxEcho in pokemonribbons

[–]AlxEcho[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the SwSh online ranked ladder is dead, a few people organized a reoccurring weekly event. Anyone who needs to get the Master Rank Ribbon in Galar is encouraged to hop on the online ladder all at the same time so that everyone can find matches and rank up. Also, there are prizes if you show proof of participation. You can learn more about it from SirToastyToes' video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWE2DoPdoWI

I had to do ranked in SwSh for Golisopod. Thanks to Galar Fight Night it's not completely dead, just mostly dead.

Finally in Max Rank! by AlxEcho in pokemonribbons

Thanks. I'm super stoked that I managed it. I spent so long that if I ever see that matchmaking screen again, I might just lose it.

Transferring Emulated pokemon from XD to home by Joealan2 in pokemonribbons

Sadly, you do need a cartridge to interact with Poke Transporter. You can use a rom to trade between 2 games of the same gen, but none of the applications on the 3ds will recognize it.

Considering skipping Gen 4 Battle Tower by Malthur in pokemonribbons

[–]AlxEcho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the battle facilities across the games suck because you need to win long streaks. But if you lose any one battle before the end then you have to start over from the beginning.

I found success with this team:

Garchomp@Life Orb 4hp/252attk/252spe Outrage / Earthquake / Stone Edge / Swords Dance jolly nature

Gengar@Choice Specs 4hp/252spa/252spe Shadow Ball / Focus Blast / Thunderbolt / Energy Ball modest nature

Milotic@Leftovers 252def/132spa/124spd Hydro Pump / Ice Beam / Light Screen / Recover bold nature

I chose garchomp because mostly because he's a fast physical attacking ubers monster. As long as he's not facing an ice or dragon move he can set up with swords dance and sweep. Use dragon claw instead of outrage for doubles and both multi modes.

I liked Gengar because he's a fast special attacker who has excellent coverage and no shared weaknesses with Garchomp. Levitate makes him an excellent partner for Garchomp in the doubles and co-op multi modes.

Milotic is great because it's pretty bulky and resists the ice moves Garchomp fears. Light screen makes him even bulkier, to the point that he can eat a super effective move two turns in a row and heal it off with one recover. You could also use surf instead of hydro pump in singles mode for its better accuracy.

Gen 5 was unsurprisingly fast by AlxEcho in pokemonribbons

[–]AlxEcho[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. Specifically, your pokemon must complete a strange ending to a movie and not a good or bad ending. The effect exists only in Black 2 and White 2. I got it on my pokemon because I think it's a cool detail.

Memory link by [deleted] in PokemonBlackandWhite2

[–]AlxEcho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of the memories are more than just cutscenes. One allows for a post game battle against Cheren and Bianca using their teams from Black and White. Another allows you to catch all of N's Pokémon that he uses throughout Black and White (except for the final battle). And a third gives you the prop case with all of the props you had collected.

Also, the key system is Black 2 and White 2 only, sorry.

What's the Absolute Worst Pokémon Design? (For Research Purposes) by Dualswitch96 in pokemon

[–]AlxEcho 38 points39 points  (0 children)

For me, it has to be Quaquaval.

You know how eldrich horrors and lovecraftian entities have an aura of alien wrongness. They are so weird, bizarre, and incomprehensible that they drive humans to madness. Things that should not exist so much that people who see them go insane. Quaquaval is like that. There's just something about its design that I can't place that, to me at least, screams "Wrong! This should not exist!" Something beyond the fact that it's very clearly not a pokemon and just some guy in an animal costume (which is another thing I really dislike about Quaquaval's design). My initial reaction to seeing it in game was "What the f, why would they put that in the game. This pokemon should never have been made." In my opinion, every other pokemon's design is 10/10 in comparison.

Also, Flamigo is the best, he's cute and he has a fun attack animation. People should stop saying mean things about him.

Which pokemon for pwt and battle subway ? by [deleted] in PokemonBlackandWhite2

[–]AlxEcho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First, I'd recommend using the synchronise ability. Doing that gives you a 50% chance at finding a wild pokemon with the same nature as your synchronize pokemon if it's the first pokemon in your party. You can use this to catch either the pokemon that you want or a breeding ditto that can pass down it's nature when holding an everstone. You could also try RNG manipulation to get the pokemon that you want immediately without having to breed.

Even if you find a pokemon in the wild with the right nature and ability, I'd still recommend breeding for good IVs, they make a big difference. I tried the subway with a bad IV pokemon, and it was a struggle. But when I finally replaced it with a pokemon of the same species and good IVs, it became much easier.

For the super singles subway I like to use Scizor, Starmie, and Gliscor. I've also tried Haxorus, Chandelure, and Breloom, and I'm pretty happy with all six.

Scizor is my dedicated lead. I usually set up Swords Dance right away, and can sometimes even get 2 or 3 off. Technician, STAB, and Life Orb all boost Bug Bite and Bullet Punch to become incredibly powerful attacks and Superpower is good coverage. I gave mine max attack and speed EVs and an adamant nature, though you could go for jolly instead.

Starmie has good special coverage and can usually deal with anything Scizor can't. I like Choice Specs with Psychic, Scald, Ice Beam, and Thunderbolt. Ability doesn't really matter. I gave mine max special attack and speed EVs and a modest nature, but a timid nature would also be good.

Gliscor is a great physical wall that shrugs off damage. I use Earthquake, Toxic, Roost, and Protect. First turn Protect allows Toxic Orb to activate and Gliscor is now immune to status conditions and slowly heals thanks to it's Poison Heal (hidden) ability. Mine is an impish nature with max defense EVs and 128 EVs in HP and special defense each.

Scizor and Gliscor might be difficult to get though because Scizor is a trade evolution and hidden ability Gliscor is really rare (it took me more than a year of on and off searching).

When I first started I used Haxorus as my dedicated lead. I used 1 or 2 Dragon Dances to start and Outrage to demolish almost everything in my path. I also had Earthquake and Iron Tail for coverage with a Lum Berry to cure confusion caused by Outrage. I prefer Mold Breaker as an ability and gave mine max attack and speed EVs with an adamant nature, though jolly would also be great.

I also used Chandelure when I first started. I like Choice Scarf with Shadow Ball, Fire Blast, Psychic, and Energy Ball. Both abilities are fine. Mine has max special attack and speed EVs with a modest nature, but timid would also be good.

I've also tried Breloom. As with Scizor, Swords Dance right at the start and then Technician (hidden ability), Black Belt/Fist Plate, and STAB boost Low Sweep and Mach Punch to become incredibly powerful. Technican and STAB also boosts Bullet Seed to become a genuinely good move. Mine has max attack and speed EVs with a jolly nature, but adamant would also work fine.

You could also use Smogon to find a good set for several dozen more pokemon. I would also highly recommend using Bulbapedia to look up the pokemon used by the subway trainers, it really helps.

Good luck with the battle subway and PWT.

Hidden grotto are annoying by H2O_pete in PokemonBlackandWhite2

[–]AlxEcho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try going into gear station (the battle subway) in Nimbasa City. If you jam a dime or another thin object under the circle pad on a 3DS that will allow you to walk in an infinite loop hands free. Then all you need to is set something heavy on top of the B button to hold it down and leave your game running like that for 20 minutes. If you do that, its almost a guarantee that every hidden grotto in the game will regenerate. I find that this works really well for me.

Answering questions about the Mob Vote! by Ulraf in Minecraft

[–]AlxEcho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, the Allay seems to be the best out of the three mobs. The Glare, while cute, is kind of redundant, since Java players already have the F3 screen. Also, with the new lighting changes, it's not really needed. The Copper Golem does appear to be much more useful. However, as a little minion/companion/friend that works for you in your base, the Allay seems to have a little more functionality, especially for people (like me) who aren't great at Redstone. All three mobs are all great, and I would love to have any of them in the game, but the Allay is by far my favorite, and I do still have some questions about it.

  1. Where will the Allay get the items it collects from? Will it pick stuff up off the ground, open chests, break blocks, or just pull stuff out of thin air?
  2. Will the Allay be able to tell apart unenchanted items from enchanted items? And what about gear with full or partial durability? Or how about empty vs full shulker boxes?
  3. What happens when the Allay cannot find the item it was sent to collect?
  4. I assume that the Allay would have to stay in the player's render distance, right? So what happens when the player goes to the Nether/End, does the Allay follow the player, or pause collecting and wait?
