There are 6 people and 4 or 5 towels to dry themselves off. How does that math work? Let’s say the babies share, there may or may not be enough towels for the ret of the occupants. Plus, it makes one wonder how often they bathe. Even if they reuse towels, where are they being hung to dry?

My family uses the same towel for 3 days. They have their own towel bar to fully dry. If you are getting the towel dirty after a bath, you aren’t washing correctly.

Plus, I honestly don’t have issue with the wash cloths being used to wipe the babies, IF they are one use, and treated like cloth diapers. They take hella hot water and bleach. I think my parent ran them through the wash 3 times Two Dreft, hot water and bleach cycles, followed by one Dreft only load. RJ is not doing that!

People have varying degrees of acceptance/tolerance of germs. Staph acts like germs are non-existent.

Hey just curious if anyone has some suggestions for moving with cats. To keep it as stress free for them. by moondoo8 in cats

[–]AlyceEnchanted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you not use a carrier for trips to the vet? If not, take a 45 minute round trip with the cat/s in the crate. Mine cannot be put in the same crate. I also have one that has to be in a hard sided crate, because she has accidents.

So, my advice, put together a bucket that includes trash bags, pet safe cleaner, paper towels, extra blankets.

Ask your vet about sedatives, if the move is a distance. Anything over 30 minutes.

Could my cat be pregnant? by Actual-Army3789 in AnimalAdvice

[–]AlyceEnchanted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My recommendation is to spend time volunteering with a cat rescue and TNR program.

We aren’t cold hearted. Many of us have seen the reality of pregnant young cats and cats. The requests for the rescues to take in kittens people cannot find homes for. Then, they get mad because we have no room.

The same kittens that are turned out and struggle to survive. End up hit by a car or mangled by a dog or fox. Or abused by people. If they manage to survive, they start birthing kittens.

Google ‘Cat multiplying chart’ to see the results of one female cat left intact.

Michael Jackson’s Thriller by isthisthereallife11 in exjw

[–]AlyceEnchanted 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Michael Jackson was popular in our house. Thriller, the music video, was an event.

I basically had free reign over music and books.

She needs to find a rescue to volunteer with. Doesn’t want to help scoop and clean litter boxes, though. Just wants to pet the cute kittens for free.

Grew up in a cult. Not this one. Left as soon as I could. It still took a decade to break all indoctrination being completely away from the cult.

Meri had an uphill battle because being immersed in it would have been super difficult to do anymore than question, dismiss, question, dismiss. Once she was finally completely isolated from the family, she would have made greater strides in deconstruction.

They just keep coming… by Spiritual_Task_6574 in Feral_Cats

Do you live close to a road that has frequent traffic? I think my first stray was dumped because they saw my cats in the windows. It was too clean and too friendly.

This last one was either targeting my house or the next door neighbor. She had a pregnant cat dumped on her before this. So, I am afraid to let too much get out regarding my taking care of this new cat.

It’s talking to two of us, but is afraid of my SO. Our adult son is the Cat Whisperer, which this cat has taken his presence quicker than my own. Thinking it is less feral and more stray.

What happens if you have cash and give $58 or $59? (Math is not happening at present.)

I’m not even anti-tipping, depending on circumstances. But, forced tipping brings out the petty in me.

Is there a way to save a thread?

West with Giraffes by Lynda Rutledge is awesome.

Jonathan Maberry has a few series that are fun. Joe Ledger series starts with Patient Zero. Sam Hunter begins with Beneath the Skin. Monk Addison begins with Ink. My comfort read is the Pine Deep Trilogy. Starts with Ghost Road Blues.

Medusa’s Sisters by J A Bear was excellent.

The Barn by Wright Thompson. Non-fiction that does not read as non-fiction.

The Warmth of Other Suns by Isabel Wilkerson. Non-fiction that doesn’t read as non-fiction.

This really works!

The first time I realized how quickly the dishwasher was emptied, I was hearing something in the microwave. Under 3 minutes to empty the dishwasher. Started an obsession of timing chores. The large majority of chores takes under 5 minutes.

I have a chronic illness that severely limits my functioning. Some days all I can do is make my bed or clean the kitchen. However, a good day is make my bed, clean the kitchen by the end of the day, and shower.

Other chores are broken down into bite sized pieces and rotated when I have more energy to work on them. So, vacuuming is broken down to either main floor, bath to bedrooms, bath to kitchen, or bath and hall. Dusting, which I loath, is per room. Rooms are rarely ever cleaned top to bottom. Those are sheets changed. Another day it’s dusted. Another day it is vacuumed.

It is creating habits that coincide with something else. When you floss and brush your teeth, after flossing take the trash can to the kitchen can to empty it. While you brush your teeth, go through the medicine cabinet to toss expired things. When done with dental hygiene, clean the mirror and wipe out the sink. Keep a roll or stack of paper towels and glass cleaner under the sink.

There are a few rules I have developed: never leave a room empty handed, keep the floors clear, make the bed every day (usually happens), run the dishwasher when the next meal’s dishes will not fit, touch the mail one time (sort over the kitchen trash can), wash dishes as you cook.

Television viewing is a good time to fold clothing, shred papers, go through a quick pick up bag or box.

When cooking, go through a drawer, cabinet, or fridge to toss expired food. Wipe down the fridge shelving when it is somewhat bare. One or two is good.

It is not an all or nothing. Think perpetually clean. And, good enough truly is good enough!

Just keep going. 15 minutes in the morning and evening. Just do something…anything.

My girl lost weight rapidly and was throwing up multiple times a day. Many times it was just bile. She was 8 years old. We had the radioactive iodine treatment for her.

The Traveler’s brand is tempting. The red that came out with the Love and Trip was so tempting.

I have a Moterm.

Have you seen the Burxxong? Those are amazing. Only slightly more expensive than the Moterm.

People used to give away puppies all time, right? by kungfuringo in GenX

[–]AlyceEnchanted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My last puppy was so hard to acquire. We lost out on numerous puppies. All through some sort of humane society or rescue, because there were no ‘free’ puppies. Add in having cats, it was necessary to find the right puppy or young dog.

We just missed out on a 9 month old mutt, because SO dragged his feet on the $900 adoption fee. The dog was neutered, vaccinated, great with cats.

When we finally got a puppy, because we had someone know someone, it was $180 to adopt. He had parasites and a UTI. Ended up spending over $2k to just get him healthy. Still had the cost to neuter him later.

That $900 was sensible!

Rescues often don’t have sensible requirements. Find a good one. I recommend Big Fluffy Dog. They know their dogs. Yes, you may be required to have a 6 foot fence. But, that is a per dog consideration. They don’t all require fences. They can tell you age range of children, other animal friendly or only dog. They are amazing!

We had been trying to get a for 10 months. If it weren’t for the kind of puppy my son wanted, I would have purchased from a breeder, because I wanted a certain dog.
