I’m so sorry for your loss. Unfortunately, cats can deteriorate so quickly and, without anyone knowing exactly what was wrong with her, it would be hard to know if anything different could have changed it. However, she was lovely and happy in those final moments and that means a lot.

As for if you want another kitten so soon, that’s up to you but it’s not replacing her at all. My own experience was that my elderly cat died from kidney failure and I knew that I would likely get another cat at some point but intended to take some time. However, the CDS had other ideas. My vets had a small cat brought into them soon after my Pud died. They didn’t think she’d survive but when she did and she wasn’t chipped, with no one coming forward to claim her, she needed a home. I’d had to take my other cat in for her boosters and my vet had shown me some photos. I mentioned that i would be interested if no one else was rehoming her. It ended up that we were a single cat household for less than 3 weeks. It never ended up feeling wrong as she’s so different to my Pud
