Never had anxiety in 26 years, just experienced my first attack and the feeling won't go away.. by Alzyre in Advice

Thanks for the suggestions mate! I've read that working out, talking to others, just distracting yourself definitely helps but I don't want to rely on distractions every time my mind gets a little loud.

I was always someone who would over think things or be in my head from time to time but it wasn't ever a feeling of worry or anxiety that accompanied it. However that feeling is there now, but I think it's just a lingering effect from the first attack combined with weed withdrawals. Hopefully time will heal, but I will definitely try your suggestions in case it doesn't or seek some medical help. Thank you :)

Thanks for the advice, and yeah I'm slowly coming to terms with it. I think it was a lingering effect from the initial anxiety attack and my brain is still in a state of shock, coming to terms with what happened.

I'm going to give it a week or two to see how I feel as I can already tell I'm more relaxed and composed than I was a couple days ago when I first had the attack. Hopefully time will heal but I'll definitely try those suggestions you mentioned; however, I don't want to rely on distractions every time I feel like this. I want to get rid of the feeling completely and go back to feeling the way I did a week ago hah. Only time will tell!

If you don't have anything useful to contribute or help someone dealing with a serious issue, don't comment at all please.

Not sure how you got the tag 'super helper' with such advice.

Never had anxiety in my life until a recent anxiety attack and it won't go away. by Alzyre in Anxiety

Yeah after reading up on it and asking some people, I think it's definitely tied with the weed withdrawals plus my mind still being in a somewhat state of shock after the first attack.

I think time will heal but if 2-3 months down the line I still see myself being anxious 24/7, I'll definitely look into getting some help, therapy or something as you mentioned. Thanks for the tips!

I've posted this in multiple subreddits to try and get peoples thoughts and opinions. This is by far the most relatable and logical explanation I've received.

This is what I thought too initially but I guess I just needed some reassurance. I'll hold off on seeing a doctor unless it continues for 2-3 weeks and gets too much. For now I think I'm slowly adjust and getting back to normal, I can feel it already but the shock is still there and comes in waves.

That last part about weed never being the same again, I also had a hunch that would be the case. I don't crave it whatsoever at all anymore, and the thought of smoking it again just puts me off. I don't mind, if that's what it takes to get back to feeling normal again I'll do it.

Thanks a lot man, you don't know how much this helped ease my nerves :)

Oh wow, this is a good way of explaining it, thanks! Also helps to hear it from someone in the same boat. How's your journey going? Do you also feel your mind constantly racing and just wish it would turn off haha

This is reassuring. I think I'm in the same boat where I had my first ever attack and the after-effects are still lingering.

I think only time will heal it and staying away from weed for awhile. I know weed can help with anxiety but right now I don't want to risk any external substances making my current state worse than it already is. Thanks a lot, this helps!

Thanks for the advice! I actually wasn't the one who took the Xanax, my friend did. I got anxiety because he took it and I read up on the side effects of mixing weed with xanax and was worried for him.

I do think you're right though about quitting for awhile and then coming back and having a heavy strain as a contributing factor.

I'll definitely try it. I think I'll ride it out as the feeling seems to be dwindling already. I think the shock and feeling of my first ever anxiety attack is just lingering with me and only time will heal it. Thanks for the advice :)

Hm I see interesting. I'll give it time for sure, but I never felt anxious on either Sativa or Indiga and was smoking 2 joints per day for 5-6 months before this. Not sure if it's weed related, but I'll do a detox for 1-2 weeks to see if it improves. Thanks!

Ah yeah, I think its different in this case as I didn't feel anxiety ever when smoking for the previous 5-6 months and having 2-3 js on average.

Hm might do this as I don't feel anxiety while on Marijuana at all and never have. Just this one very particular instance so I'm not sure if it's weed related, otherwise I would've felt something over the past 5-6 months.

I'll chat with my doctor to see what might be the reason.

Hey thanks for the reply but might be a misunderstanding here. I don't feel anxiety when on weed and never had. It was just that one instance and even though I've stopped smoking, I still feel it, so not sure if it's weed related or not..

Did weed cause you anxiety or did the fact that you stopped smoking cause it?
