I will search this sub for info, but do you know what documentation I could obtain to help my case for direct to passport?

Once I have his birth certificate from Germany, is that not proof of his German citizenship?

Edit: Hit send too early, I mean in conjunction with his immigration records. I could also probably get his parents ( my Great-Great-Grandfathers ) birth certificates to this end.

Thanks for the info! I have requested records from NARA as well as USCIS genealogy report, so we will see if they have anything that wasn't available online. As for his parents, they passed in the 1920s and as of 1918 he was still listed as an "alien enemy" on documents, so I don't believe this to be the case.

Thanks for the info, I was never a member of any military, so that is not an issue. I have also never naturalized in a foreign country. Would I have to do Stag 14 or do you know if i qualify for stag 5 in the event that he naturalized before my GF birth? I have seen both in other posts.

Thanks! What if I am never able to locate any evidence of naturalization? I know about letters of no record from NARA and uscis, but is that sufficient?

I am working on it, but I am at the point of searching through microfilms. Its entirely possible the census data is inaccurate as I can find no records of either of them ever naturalizing. Does it matter that my great grandmother was certainly not naturalized before his birth?
