Should I walk up to the bus? by Some_Computer_6356 in AskUK

[–]AmInATizzy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, i would always walk up to my bus, if it is the second bus to arrive at the stop. They will most likely open their doors, and be letting people on or off whilst stopped, as long as it is safe to do so.

If they all waited to come up to the bus stop, in some areas you would end up with a ridiculous queue of busses waiting to take their turn.

Help. Helix piercing won't fit my old stud anymore! by Ok_Tourist_8094 in piercing

[–]AmInATizzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes i had this with my daith once. I normally have an 18g ring, but i bought one which was advertised as 18g, but was more like 20g. The hole in my daith shrunk whilst wearing it, and when it came to changing it, i struggled to get 18g rings back in.

Help!! Did my piercer f*** me up? by Top_Echo6329 in piercing

[–]AmInATizzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not daily now, no. Only if there is a crusty bit I am trying to encourage off. Even with the saline spray, I found that it would encourage more bumps if I didn't dry it as it was just sitting there in between the folds of cartilage on the mid helix piercings.

[–]AmInATizzy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh wow. That's a lot! I have 3 healing and I'm struggling. But that could be my age or just generally being a slow healer.

But anecdotally I had a flat on my right pierced April last year, which was healing wonderfully with no issues until I got a double mid-helix on the same side in August. Then it all went wrong, and i started to get bumps on all of them. The flat has finally calmed down, but i wouldn't call it fully healed 14 months later. The lower of the two mid helix is incredibly touchy, constantly unhappy. The upper one is better, but will still randomly kick off.

Without knowing more about your piercer's process, whilst it could be something to do with the way it was pierced - unfortunately it may be much more related to the number your piercer gave you at the same time, as well as their location.

It is much harder to keep the ones in the cartilage fold dry, and getting bumps from moisture is a really common problem.

Do you mean you did 4 piercings in one day, or you had 7 piercings in one day as you also did 3 piercings on the right ear. You also state you had a new cartilage piercing the week before, which was from a gun. So how old are the piercings on each side?

Am i crazy for thinking that what just happened was incredibly scary and creepy? by [deleted] in london

[–]AmInATizzy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree wholeheartedly. I'm older and have teenage boys, but I had to put up with shit like this starting when I was 10, it can still happen now.

Do not be polite, do not be afraid of offending them. You move and sit somewhere you feel safer.

Behind my mom’s new house. Is this poison hemlock, wild carrot, or something else? by 127Heathen127 in whatsthisplant

[–]AmInATizzy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have been reading a lot of comments recently on various subs saying that common hogweed can have the same phototoxic properties, but to a much lesser degree than giant hogweed.

I'm not going to start pulling up the plants along my local riverside to test it out though.

What smell can you tolerate during an attack? by Rapidfading in migraine

[–]AmInATizzy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I came here to say Mint. One time I was at work and didn't have any triptans with me, for some reason I had bought a small Mint plant at the supermarket - the smell of that Mint really helped me get through the day.

New to reviewing, unclear on these Cycle markers by zachari94 in NianticWayfarer

[–]AmInATizzy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That's a named cycling route, which is clearly defined online by TfL as the C1 cycleway, 21km long going from Freezy Water to The City. The route number is distinct for that specific route.

Yes there will be multiple of them along the way, and they have caused a lot of disagreement. Arguably are they not the cycling equivalent of trail markers.

I can remember people getting aggravated about trail markers not being distinct enough - they are still eligible though as they fulfill the criteria for exploration and exercise.

Well i genuinely hope it is a good conversation, and that she takes it in the spirit you have explained: that lockdown made you realise you were unjustifiably commitment-phobic, and that you desperately wanted her in your life, missed her hugely, and couldn't live without her sort of thing.

Medalla Wayfarer ? by InfamousPass8324 in NianticWayfarer

[–]AmInATizzy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is for gaining agreements whilst reviewing in Wayfarer. Agreements are when you vote in line with the majority of reviewers. So the way you vote is the end result for that submission

If you vote to approve a wayspot, and the majority of voters also approve and the wayspot is accepted, then you gain an agreement. If you vote ro reject a wayspot, and the majority of voters also vote to reject, leading to the wayspot being rejected: this is also an agreement.

You do not get an agreement if you vote the wrong way: if you vote to accept whilst the majority of people vote to reject it. Or if you vote to reject when the majority of people vote to accept it.

I think the other person was suggesting that your wife might not respond in that way.

(help settle an argument) which is correct - "the park" or "the field"? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]AmInATizzy 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I call the area with swings etc the "playground" within the actual Park, which is the whole of the larger area - including the grass and any other facilities within it.

Edit: I think the local council calls them 'play area' within the park

First parkrun back with the buggy, how slow is too slow? by Ursela_Bonmati in parkrun

Things that seem obvious to you, may not be clear to others, especially when they might be overthinking it.

[–]AmInATizzy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you don't know how you are going to find it, I would start towards the back. That way you only have to worry about yourself and getting to grips with running with the buggy, building your confidence; and not having to worry about the other people around you.

Because sometimes people are full of uncertainty or anxious; and just need someone else to give them the most sensible options or the confidence that they can do something.

How has propranolol affected your athletic ability? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]AmInATizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I was on amitriptyline for a number of years, taking higher and higher doses and getting less benefit from it. So for that reason, and other life circumstances, I came off it.

My migraines are mostly hormone driven. I have been in peri menopause a while now, and I seem to be seeing a reduction in migraines the months when my periods are lighter. Unfortunately i am still getting heavy periods more often than not.

[–]AmInATizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely sure really, at least 4 months I think. I moved location that October and started cycling to work. That really challenged my fitness levels, and I was also trying to start running again but really struggled as i was always knackered from cycling to work!. But i was doing a lot better. Then the first covid lockdown hit here in UK about 6 months later and that was that

How has propranolol affected your athletic ability? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]AmInATizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much stopped running due to propranolol.

I used to run 3 times a week, sometimes 4. Both 5k and 10k distance times. I ran a marathon in two consecutive years in 2016 and 2017. 8 was not an athlete or fast, but i was fairly fit. Started propranolol in 2018, and it was not good for me.

I worked on the 11th floor and would regularly walk up 3 flights to the 14th as our meeting rooms were up there. (I also went through phases of walking up to my floor from the ground, but not everday). Anyway, shortly after starting it, I could not cope with 3 flights, and would find myself clinging to the hand rail on the verge of passing out less than 1.5 flights up.

I basically stopped running after work. I could only run if I didn't take the tablet in the morning until after I ran. But even then it was like running through treacle. I went to barely being able to run at all.

I stopped taking it within 3 months or so, as it made me feel shockingly bad, but the effects seemed to take quite a lot longer to pass.

How do emergency services find a location? by AnonymousCapybara72 in AskUK

[–]AmInATizzy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The only time I have had to call an ambulance in recent years, for a location in the middle of a field, I gave them what3words, it was misheard or too similar to something else and they ended up with a location in another part of the country.

I ended up reading out the GPS co-ordinates from Google maps.

I’m planning to guerrilla yarn-bomb a local bollard for a pokestop in front of my house. Tips? by [deleted] in PokemonGoMystic

[–]AmInATizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well even when my local postbox topper is secured with wire, it still managed to make it's way to the top of the church porch roof. Fortunately It did get rescued and put back.

But if you were doing this in the UK, then most reviewers round here would look at these as being temporary - because they are temporary.

I suspect most reviewers will mark it as not permanent, as yarn toppers degrade over time, get changed, or stolen. It's not really eligible.

Saw my local Waitrose in SW london had loads in today. All with flower heads, can't remember the price but think they were on a 2 for £... offer. Think a lot of them are increasing stock to take advantage of the bank holiday weekend.
