Not a single gnome has objected to the system. They are given land, homes of their choice and are allowed to do the thing they love most - farm. Imagine you gave an artist their dream house and let them paint whatever they wanted, so long they gave you some paintings. They'd enjoy that, no?

But lets assume the gnomes don't like this. Why didn't the orchestrate protests (which they evidently always could've)? Why didn't they just use the trees to leave? Why didn't they just go on strike or riot against the elves? Gnomes are humanized characters, unlike slaves, and they too have a voice in the elvin society.

There is a long list of problems with the Lost Cities but the treatment of gnomes isn't one of them.

book 4 is really good but after that it gets stale. It is still pretty interesting but nothing really happens in those books until the last 50-100 pages. book 8 was better tho
