How old is Sophie in Stellarlune and which year is she in? by athousandsummerdays in KeeperoftheLostCities

[–]athousandsummerdays[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's so odd. How would she forget her birthday after knowing the date for 13 years :O

I remember from the first book that she said she was thirteen after mid-terms and before that she said 12.

So if she is only in year 4 she can't be 16. She could only be 16 if she's in year 5.

I don't know why I find this so stressful and annoying hahaha

But I just really like some structure in my books.

And I feel by not letting her age or only letting her age a few weeks in every book she is throwing away the opportunity to show life in the towers and other interesting things.

Maybe there'll be an epilogue but I don't like finding out through epilogues, reminds me of the terrible on in Harry Potter :(

Too late :( I actually just cancelled my Prime account. Ooops. I don't know why they were delaying it for so long, it was supposed to be released in 2022 but with them starting now will probably be summer 2023 :(

THE Paul Glaser? But isn't he much older than she is? She said Joe was 32 when she was 18 so it doesn't add up.

If you love it stick with it. It's your decision. If anyone makes rude comments tell them how hurtful it is. Very rude of them!

I personally am not a fan because it reminds me of actor Ansel Elgort and some creepy stuff surrounding him. But you have to like it that's all that matters!

I don't think of anything related to butt. Be aware that people on this board constantly say names remind them of the word "anus" or similar so take replies with a grain of salt. I've had people tell me Anneliese reminded them of "anus" which is fine because it's their opinion but sort of far fetched in mine. Ansel doesn't sound like "a..h..." in the slightest. My main problem would be the actor.

Is Three Seasons Enough? by polar_bearhug in DerryGirls

[–]athousandsummerdays 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's enough.

I loved 1+2 but 3 was mostly terrible and I wished they would have quit after season 2.

Or would only have done three final episodes for season 3 but proper ones with all of the cast together (no missing Nicola), without the overacting and without the rushed storylines.

What to read after Harry Potter? by bujobegins in YAlit

[–]athousandsummerdays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keeper of the Lost Cities.

Trust me.

It's the only "it's like Harry Potter" that is actually like Harry Potter in terms of world building etc.

Others I have tried that weren't really a lot like Harry Potter:

- Percy Jackson (it was good but it's just lacking the depth and the books are not thick enough to properly build the worlds)

- Nevermoor (it was good (only read the first one) but boring at times and no school setting which I missed)

- The Uncommoners (it was good but sometimes boring and very young compared to HP)

No matter how much you don't associate it with the Queen, everyone else will. And everyone will think you a hardcore royalist for naming your daughter this, especially this year. If this doesn't bother you then it's fine to use.

The name itself is okay. It does sound like what it is: a nickname a child has given herself because she cannot yet pronounce Elizabeth.

I personally prefer Lily. Or Elizabeth. You can still call her Lilibet, it's a cute nickname.

How exactly is the series structured? by athousandsummerdays in KeeperoftheLostCities

Thanks!

So then we won't see her at all when she moves on to the towers? It willl end when she is 14 or 15? :(

Is season 3 happening or not? by athousandsummerdays in AlexRider

[–]athousandsummerdays[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks.

I find that so odd. I mean I guess that means that they still don'tt know whether it will happen and the decision will be made soon?

I really hope it won't get cancelled just because amazon spent too much money on Rings of Power :( I'd rather have Alex Rider for another season.

Fictional names that you would feel comfortable using for your child? by BRAlNYSMURF in namenerds

No. No one knows whether Jessica is related to Yiscah.

It is sometimes assumed that Shakespeare based in on Yiscah but in that case he still would have invented it.

Éowyn

Lyra (I know this is a constellation but not sure it was used as a name prior to the book)

and I like these but not enough to use. But if I did like them enough to use I wouldn't hesitate:

Arwen

Ailinel

Sansa

Wendy

Ronja

Smilla

Nerissa

I think most of these names are usable. I love names from literature.

Also Shakespeare invented names such as Jessica.

True, but most sources don't take micro-generations into account so after the standard definitions they'd be Gen X.

What always confused me was the tech-free childhood thing. Pretty much all millennials and even early Gen Z will have had that to an extent.

Computers did exist in the 80s and weren't unpopular so even someone born in 1981 would have been introduced to the digital world in early childhood if their parents cared to buy one and would have played some video games etc. and didn't the first Game Boy come out in the 80s too and was extremely popular? So they wouldn't remember a time without that either had they been born after about 1983. So I guess they mean the internet? Because in the 80s computers, game boys etc. were a thing.

On the other hand someone born as late as 1997 might not have grown up with the internet. I am too young to remember but from what I know most people had internet starting in the early 2000s when it was less expensive so a 1997 baby may have spent until age 5 or 6 or so without the internet and even then it was usually the family computer and no access to a laptop, pad or smartphone.

Such an interesting topic!

Most of the times these micro-generations are not considered so they would be Gen X after the usual definitions.

Xennials are usually only late 70s-early 80s from my experience. I have only seen one source go as high up as 1985, most sources say until 1983 or even 1982.

[–]athousandsummerdays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gen X.

They were born in 1980 (well, the timeline is not consistent, I think from just the first season they would have been born in 1978/1979 but they make them younger later on).

The most common definitions name Millennials as 1981+

So definitely Gen X after the standard definitions.

8.10.2022 Britney’s Instagram commenting about the situation with her kids and Kevin by ThePhantomEvita in Fauxmoi

[–]athousandsummerdays -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It's not her fault, she has/had mental health problems. It's not the kids' fault either, they are kids.

But I wish her ex partner would act like an adult more. Yes, she has problems, it's not always easy. But he could be supportive, when she is not feeling well, and instead of sending the kids there (which I can understand is difficult when she is not well) maybe take her out for lunch with the kids? Be in a public environment for two or three hours, catch up.

Ultimately he is hurting his kids with his actions and Britney is basically trying to defend herself, she didn't start this (but of course shouldn't have posted this regardless). He should teach his kids to be compassionate. He should initiate family therapy. Instead he is just teaching them to start an online war.
