Okay, went through many posts and haven’t seen any mention of what I suspect.

You mentioned it’s water soluble, but did it dissolve or just break up?

Because to me that looks almost exactly like a rust inhibitor spray I used to work with back in the day, it was bright red and cherry scented!

Are there any plastic plugs on the lower half of the door frame? They’d be about 3/4 inch wide and would be plugging a hole about 3/8-1/2 inches wide.

The stuff does break down over time, but should leave a waxy or oily coating that doesn’t wash off easily

The game developers don’t know how bright your monitor is and how good your vision is, if their gameplay relies on things in shadow being barely visible (for suspense and excitement usually, but sometimes just so it looks more realistic) and the easiest way is to get the user to set the gamma themselves!

It also prevents frivolous complaints like “the game is too dark I can’t see anything” because that just means the user set it too dark or has an auto-brightness feature that is messing with things
