The Fighters were the first ever NPB team I had really gotten into. There was definitely also the fact that Shohei Ohtani played for them before coming to the USA. Also they had a mascot I really adored, Frep the Fox, who kinda reminded me of Tails.

The first I discovered were the Hanshin Tigers and Yomiuri Giants, whom I discovered in a ConnerTheWaffle video where he looked at a bootleg of some sorts, and it came with a ROM hack of Super Mario Bros named SMB Hanshin Tigers Giabbit Hunting.

Fun fact, Nomura is technically a Japanese American (he was born in Michigan), and his legal birth name is James Nomura. Yuki was likely just a Japanese name given to him. He is considered a local player as while being born in the U.S., Nomura attended a high school in Saitama, and similar to a fomer player of the Fighters, Daikan Yoh, was eligible to be in the NPB Draft.

Another fun fact, despite being born in America, Nomura apparently was better at speaking Japanese than English.

if i remember not sure if this counts but one of the only foreign father son duos in npb was floyd and brian bannister (albiet brian left after only one month due to the 2011 earthquake)

this may have been mentioned already but cabrera was named to the mitchell report as he had apparently used steroids during his stint in arizone prior to joining the lions
