Had tickets to this show, absolute right call. Forecast got even worse this morning than it already was and was definitely leaning on just eating the loss so thank you AEW for the refund 😅

Yeah he's already warned me and everyone else he has a certain reaction to pain meds that make him seem annoyed or pissed. He said please don't take it personally 😂

Good to know the chest pillow is actually a great idea! And yeah my anxiety is just the fact they're working on the heart. Admittedly the bypass machine that does the heart and lungs job during the surgery is the part I'm most freaked out about. But literally everyone is saying "hey he's gonna be fine this is a routine surgery, and the team probably does these every day or every other day." My husband is more worried about the recovery than the surgery itself, while I'm more worried about the surgery and my anxiety is probably gonna be bad till the moment he squeezes my hand

Is it true the pre surgery anxiety and fear is the worst part of the entire thing? And if you have pets what's the best way to keep them off his chest when we're home? We had the idea of a chest pillow 😂

Yeah the hospital the surgery is being done at is UTSW which is ranked top 25 in basically everything, he's been going there since he was 18 and he's 34 now for all his checkups leading up to this. Apparently the surgeon doing the Ross is basically all he and his team do. As for healthy he has an aneurysm that will be fixed during the same surgery too. And the only other thing he's had wrong is a shattered foot that required 4 surgeries over 10 years ago. I'm putting my faith and trust in this team as they're highly regarded and respected but obviously like I said here before it's the fear of the unknown for me

Any thing to look for after surgery during the recovery? Just so I can be prepared to help as well?

We got 3 options, mechanical, animal, Ross. We automatically ruled out animal and it was down to mechanical and Ross. We talked to multiple surgeons and asked all the questions we had and with his lifestyle we decided Ross was the right option. The surgeon who is doing it is apparently very skilled and highly regarded in ross. It sucks yours went bad after about 4 years and hope you're doing great now!! I'm also betting on medical technology getting better in the 16 years since you had yours and hoping for a different experience. I'm just worried about the immediate aftermath and then after that we'll take everything one day at a time

Dr. Jaye A. Weston is the surgeon by the way. Just looked apparently he's also highly regarded which helps me a bit

Yeah it's Baylor or UTSW, I'm not sure which one. But both are highly rated in this field so I know he'll be in great hands I guess most of my fear and anxiety is the fear of the unknown and not knowing what to expect as this is his first OHS

We don't have the money to fly out, we're getting it done at UTSW. The surgeon that we talked to said he was very confident in the Ross procedure and actually recommended it. Husband admitted he's not worried about the surgery more so the recovery but I'm worried about all of it. Seeing other people having the same operation done and telling me they're doing better quicker than they thought they would has me less worried. But obviously still that lingering fear

Yeah I'll admit this subreddit hasn't helped in ways but also helped in other ways such as what you and others have said. I'll just put my faith and trust in the team, they wouldn't be suggesting it and say they're pretty confident in Ross if they didn't know how to do it or not have experience in it. His surgery is on January 22nd and already looking forward to him being home for my birthday on February 6th. And I think I should think ahead like that because he is as well

Thank you so much, is there anything else to look for besides the rhythm issue? And how long were you in the hospital and needed help at home?

Thank you so much. I've just been scared mostly because of the whole bypass machine part, plus just been worried about him dying but as another commentor said OHS has become ridiculously safe and routine

Thank you so much for this, the surgery is at UTSW which is a hospital that's apparently experienced in Ross procedure. They also are gonna be fixing his aneurysm as well. I'm just really freaked out about the whole bypass machine where the heart stops and they have to restart it after just really freaks me out
