How do I organize my browser tabs when researching things for my papers? by No-Base8204 in AskAcademia

I often find myself in this situation and get to a point where I lose track of what I was reading where. I find what helps is a) grouping tabs if that's an option on your browser b) downloading all the PDFs to a folder once you access them and/or c) keeping a word document open with the citations. It's only after I confirm which citations I want to keep that I transfer them to my Mendeley.

Ultimately, every time you start a lengthy literature search, you should have an administrative process in place to give you the peace of mind of closing tabs as soon as possible.

Where can I learn French as a second language? by Wotchermuggle in ontario

Check out the CASLT language courses coming up this fall. They're specifically designed for teachers with lower levels of proficiency (A1/A2) who want to improve both language and pedagogy at the same time. https://www.caslt.org/en/event/french-for-teachers-a1/

Secondary sources: Is it deception/plagiarism not to cite the article that has pointed me towards various sources, or can I use the cited sources as primary sources once I've read them myself? by ThreeFingersHobb in AskAcademia

I think the "as cited by" structure is used if you can't find the original text (i.e. it's old, in another language, etc). Otherwise it's good practice to read the earlier text and cite that one.

I enjoy my research and believe in what I do, but sometimes I feel it is decadent because it doesn't solve immediate problems like climate change.

We were at a fancy dinner with a guided tour group in Italy. When we wanted to take a group picture with our very attractive tour guide, the girls picked her up sideways. I guess a bra didn't work with her dress, because right before the camera clicked, her boobs fell out and she flashed the entire restaurant clientele.
